A well taken care of Victorian house transformed into a hotel. This beautifully kept hotel is something that will have anyone staying here returning again and again. From its incredible decor and welcoming atmosphere to the surrounding area (shopping, restaurants and historic sights) This hotel was well worth the stop. Now there are no washrooms in suite as it is an old Victorian house, most rooms have private washrooms. The whole vibe of this place is perfect. If anyone wants to travel back in time and sleep comfortably I recommend this place.

Sorry to say it was a huge disappointment. Historic Inn that has received absolutely no love and attention for many years. The room hadn’t been properly cleaned (dirty baseboards, floors, shelves etc) and I had a hard time sleeping in a bed with stained sheets. We want tourist dollars in Nova Scotia and tourists deserve more. Antigonish is a university town. Are there no students who need summer jobs and can be taught how to properly service/clean a hotel room?

"Nice freshly cooked breakfast."

10.0

A beautiful building with rooms both inside and in the grounds. I stayed in the Garden Suite that had a parking area right in front. One big room with a huge bed, table and two chairs in the kitchen area. Coffee maker and kettle, microwave. Small bathroom but well appointed. Only one negative - only three forks in the drawer, no knives or spoons. Plates, glasses and cups in the cupboard. I would stay again.

A good stay overall. Very good location. Sit down breakfast was nice. Inside clean unit most furniture was old with some damage not very comfortable. Bed comfort was ok, sheets could be upgraded, bed was hard to access, very narrow room. Kitchen was good, closets were large, bathroom was clean and adequate. Deck and railing to unit need replacement / repair. Very nice large park-like area at back of property.

"Review of Antigonish Victoria Inn – Room 9, 1-Bedr"

4.0

Review of Antigonish Victoria Inn – Room 9, 1-Bedroom Suite We stayed in Room 9 (1-bedroom suite) for three nights and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Check-in was straightforward, though we were required to prepay for the entire stay, which felt a bit rigid. The suite itself was quite dated. The furniture was in poor condition — visibly worn and uncomfortable. The kitchen was oddly stocked: five knives, but no spoons, forks, bowls, plates, or mugs. We had to walk over to the dining area in the main building to grab basic supplies ourselves, as no one was available at the front desk to assist. Housekeeping was minimal. During our stay, we didn’t receive any room service — only a towel swap. Cleanliness was another major issue. There were earwigs in both the kitchen and shower. A few dead ones were already on the kitchen floor when we arrived — and were still there when we checked out. Overall, the room was poorly maintained and lacking in basic amenities and cleanliness. It’s not a place we’d return to or recommend unless serious improvements are made.

"Deeply Disappointed – A Once-Charming Inn no more!"

2.0

We recently stayed at the Victorian Inn in Antigonish, paying $600 for two nights in a family cottage, unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked in, it was clear the unit had not been properly cleaned or maintained. Kitchen was filthy—ant traps, dirty oven with a cookie sheet still inside, under the sink was a mess of more ant traps, grimy cloths, bathroom was no better: shower curtain badly stained, bathtub had a visible ring, and the bathroom fan was so caked with dust it couldn't possibly function properly. Throughout the cottage, surfaces were unclean. Glass coffee table had visible handprints, door knobs and windows were grimy. The back patio was in poor shape, with rotting boards and no furniture to sit on, making it unusable and unsafe. To make matters worse, there was a coffee maker with a dirty basket but no actual coffee provided. When I spoke with one of the owners' workers at check-out, I was told that just two people were responsible for cleaning 13 rooms in a 4-hour window. That explains a lot, but it also highlights poor management priorities. This building is iconic in Antigonish and deserves so much better. It’s heartbreaking to see it so clearly neglected, with no apparent interest in preserving its reputation or offering guestsa respectable stay. Sadly, it seems the owners have chosen to run this once-charming inn into the ground. We will not return—and I can’t in good faith recommend this property to anyone.
