Quest Wellington

The shop across the road from our apartment had four workers replacing the store front and using a metal grinder until after 1am. We had to call noise control who only came by 2am when we were able to sleep. We had to get up at 6am to catch our train. The staff member should check for noise when they leave the hotel at 8pm each night. The workers were seen leaving the shop as we exited at the hotel at 6.45am. Please lay a complaint with Wellington council as this would be a breach of by-laws. It was the shop adjacent to RYIOS adidas shop.

No air con, furniture looking tired

We arrived at the property just after midnight and when we arrived, it was hard to check in as no one was answering the phone for 10 minutes. Then there was no water on arrival but we found a note that there was a leak outside on the street, which was getting repaired , which is understandable but in the morning to our surprise there was no hot water so we ended up with the cold shower. beside that all the furniture was looking very tired and well overdue for replacement. So the Quest needs a good refurbishment.

Staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble.

Great Location in the CBD close to the harbour & shopping. Spacious rooms, comfortable bed & bonus of having a clothes dryer & washing machine in the bathroom. Rooms need an update & maintenance required as the bathroom had broken tiles & some mould. Walls either showing cracks, holes & dirty marks. Carpet stained. No car parking onsite had to pay $39 for parking at the TSB building located on the harbour, nice short walk & 24 hr parking which was good as we did some sight seeing after check out. Overall the overnight stay was good.

Very spacious apartment right in the centre of town, and very affordable. Appeared to be inaccessible for wheelchair.

Note for other travelers planning to book. Quest Wellington require room payment upfront and when we gave 1 months notice to move our dates by 2 days they refused to move the booking, quoting their policy that the room fee is not refundable or transferable to alternate dates. I would therefore not advise booking with them.

Late check in didn’t work. We were lucky that another guest arrived shortly after and he met us in.

Just one night here, booked day prior. Got an excellent rate of $136 NZ via Expedia which is why we chose this hotel. I normally prefer to book direct with hotels but direct rate was much more expensive. I advised staff in conversation of this and they said ‘oh you should have checked with us direct’. Well no not really, I think smart hotels should be constantly aware of what booking engines are selling their rooms at. Hotel is dated and tired, stained carpets, old beds, chipped bathroom tiles, you get the picture BUT it is clean, affordable and great central location on Lambton Quay so you can walk anywhere downtown easily. Also surprisingly quiet. Night before I emailed asking if a twin bedded room was possible. Never got a response. Arrived 40 minutes pre check in time and they would not let us check in - really? No cleaned rooms ready? Don’t believe it. Check in is 2pm, check out 10.00 a.m. Really mean times as a seasoned traveller. I’ve stayed in over 120 hotels this year. Most hotels check out time is 11.00 a.m or even noon. Staff appeared to be trained to make no exceptions with requests for early check ins or late check outs.
