Sky Rock Sedona, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

We wish that we had read the reviews of this hotel more carefully. The hotel is in a good location with lovely views, but its chronic poor management does not make it worthy of the Marriott name or the high room rates. The food in the "restaurant" is practically inedible, and the staff looks overworked and tired of hearing complaints. We (other several other guests) were kept waiting for over an hour past the 4pm check-in time because our rooms were not ready. Our first night was pretty unbearable due to a bright strobe light on the smoke alarm flashing all night long. Although we've stayed in many hotels and never encountered this problem before now, the staff insisted that it was "normal" operation but also admitted that they get numerous complaints and the maintenance people spend a lot of time putting stickers over the lights. Bottom line is you pay 4-star rates for a 1-star hotel. Sad, because with proper management it could be a nice place.

The room was a great size and clean. However, the temp was never consistent, it was either freezing or hot at night, other guest complained of the same thing. The pillows were terrible, I barely slept in four days. The breakfast was fine, underwhelming though the staff was great. Overall, we paid for the view, not the property.

Location - near downtown Sedona, in West Sedona. Has a cool retro vibe. Amazing views from communal spaces. Nice to have bar on property.

$36 / night for parking is too much! No elevator up/down 3 exterior sets of stairs, makes arrival and departure *in rain* challenging. King bed in room 110 (Building 2) needs replaced. High price point for moderate amenities.

We liked everything!

The room was really run down, not nice at all. It was on a highway and you could hear the cars zooming past all night. I could hear the family in the room next to me -- and hear every word and whisper.

This hotel was great! Conveniently located in Sedona, but feels very private. The outdoor patio has stunning views of the red rocks. Registration and checkout were easy and quick, and all staff were nice. In fact, one morning we planned an early jeep tour and asked for blankets at the front desk. The early morning clerk, Yvonne, left her post to go to the housekeeping office and brought us the blankets - so kind! A great base for a visit to the area. The only drawback is the emergency light in the room’s ceiling. It made sleep really difficult. Either the light needs to be moved to another part of the room, or some ceiling partition has to be installed.
