Montecassino Hotel and Event Venue

Staff was very nice. Rooms were clean. Walking distance to Rogers Stadium. Biggest hangup was us finding out we were getting a power outage the next morning at 8 a.m. When the power finally did go out around 8:15 a.m., we brought our things down by the stairwell. There was NO SECURITY LIGHTING in the stairwell. VERY DANGEROUS.

Check in was fine. Hotel entrance was difficult to find and signage to locate it when arriving was insufficient. Room was clean but desk chair was so badly stained, I did not want to sit on it. Rooms still have a physical key instead of a key card. Continental breakfast very limited and needs to be spread out more (e.g., add another table) to reduce crowding. Not very much within immediate neighbourhood but not far from subway transit and Yorkdale. Very handy to new Rogers Stadium (essentially across the street).

Montecassino was great for location but only because we were attending a concert at the nearby arena. Other than the arena, there is not much nearby. Check in was quick and the staff were friendly. Our room was large ( king suite) but there were signs of the previous customers that stayed. The carpet was definitely not vacuumed and we found a lighter on the floor. The property only allowed us to book 2 nights, so I had to spend extra, as I only required accommodations for 1 night. Housekeeping came in after our first night and made the bed, replaced towels, but again, did not vacuum, and did not replace items such as cups or toiletries.

The only good reason to stay there for that price is the proximity to the Rogers Stadium. Pretty old place never renovated. The room was clean, so were the beds, but it smelled like it had not been opened in weeks, probably the old carpet that absorbed the smell. The breakfast was the most minimalist that we've seen (few slices of bread, a couple brand of cereals, 1 or 2 bagels), we actually went out to eat.

Location was great for what we wanted, walkable to the concert at Rogers Stadium which is why we were there. Everything appeared clean. Had a small issue where our room had silverfish bugs in the bathroom outlet but the front desk staff member let us switch rooms no problem. You can hear everything in the hallways so just keep that in mind if you stay for a concert, there will be people being loud late at night.

Was a great location to stay for concerts. No transportation needed 20 minutes walk. The hotel is kind of outdated and not much to do or places to eat around there. The continental breakfast was bare minimum.

I was expecting a better breakfast selection and the water took a while to get hot but other than that, it was a pretty good experience pretty close to the stadium.

Staff were terrible. Wifi didnt work in our room and the front desk said thats what i get when i book a suite on the 5th floor. It's too far away from the modem. There was sliver fish bugs in the bathroom. The air conditioning was just blew warm air, and staff did nothing about it. The only plus was the location to Rogers Stadium.
