Very comfortable very clean

This is a sweet little vintage roadside motel, lovingly restored, pretty and quite comfortable. Access is by key code, but in our case, Katy was there to give us a warm welcome. Typical of the era (assume 1950s) the motel room was small. It was clean, apart from a little dust on baseboards and a few finger marks on the bathroom door. The bathroom itself was spotless and featured a roomy shower. The bed was comfy, with a memory foam mattress and very clean linens. Wifi was very fast. My only real complaint is, as other reviewers have noted, the toilet is a bit close for comfort! The sliding door to the bathroom does not close completely, meaning sounds and smells from the bathroom permeate the bedroom/living room area. This may be embarrassing, depending on your relationship with your roommate. Happily married for over 43 years and I still didn’t like it!

The motel was very clean, the room was lovely and comfortable and had a great ambiance. We liked the guest lounge. We liked the idea of the canteen, and it had some great products that we had never seen before. We also enjoyed the fire pits available on the property and sat there at night. There are grocery stores and eateries nearby, and good hiking and recreational areas such as Penitente Canyon and the Rio Grande National Forest.

Because of the minimalistic decor of the room, there was not enough storage for my taste. The shower didn't have hooks or shelves for toiletries, either. This will sound nitpicky, but the front desk is staffed for a very limited time, and the owner only communicated with me through texts, which started feeling a little impersonal. It worked out because we had no problems with the room, but I wonder how it would work if there was a problem, like a broken shower or AC unit.

The retro vibe and small touches such as good coffee and tea selection. The bathroom and room were clean. Good communication with the owner.

Water was not hot enough at night time and heater was not able to heat the room well.

The attention to detail from the mattress to the linens to the decor to the emphasis on sustainability was unmatched. Highly recommend for a boutique vibe that you can feel good about.
