That the online description did not match the apartment. What city views ? Shared washing machines in basement NOT unit. Yes there are stairs …. 60 of them to get to our apartment, at the top. No guest information left, not even wifi password. I had to contact the owner for it. Bed was like a hammock with two in it so one of us slept on the couch. Struggled to clean teeth over bathroom basin.

The apartment felt safe which was very important as an international traveler. You need to be willing to walk up stairs which is standard for Europe. The apartment was clean and included a small kitchen including a microwave, stove, small fridge and plates/utensils. There was a sitting room with a tv. Hot water for the shower didn't take too long. The apartment is only about a 7 minute walk from the train station, very convenient. It's also pretty close to a pedestrian shopping/dining area. Duisberg is a pretty easy city to walk around downtown. Finally, the price was quite reasonable.

Most of this is pretty minor. The medicine cabinet in the bathroom extends out over the sink so brushing one's teeth requires one to contort themselves. The blankets were a little short. There is wi-fi but it sometimes didn't connect to my phone, and then miraculously would connect and be fine. You also need to be aware of where the ceiling drops down so you don't hit your head, though once you're aware it shouldn't be a problem.

The apartment was extremely cold. Heating didn't work.

Cleanlisness, comfort and arrangements

1. Washing powder missing for washing clothes 2. Dustbin bags are missing which are essential. 3. TV is not useful for foreign traveller, it was smart tv but app couldn't work. After defining this issue to the management , I just got reply for point 1 &2 that its my responsibility to get this stuff from market. For point 3, My responsibility to connect with TV brand and resolve the issue. Most important is I feel that pictures of kitchen on website and actual kitchen was different. Alloted apartment's kitchen was too small.
