Wonderful, friendly staff. Great food and beer

Breakfast was excellent and very varied with a wide range of choices. Evening meals again very varied. Excellent view from the rear garden of the coast line Rooms clean and well decorated. Would highly recommend.

The room was spacious and clean. The staff are warm and welcoming. The food was hearty and delicious! Great atmosphere, great for families. Reasonably priced. Lovely indoor and outdoor space. We were taking part in the action challenge so we couldn't have the cooked breakfast but they put on an amazing spread for the early risers instead.

The bed was not quite supportive enough

Friendly staff nothing was to much for them, nice clean room best hotel I've stayed in , will be booking again.

There was nothing to dislike perfect holiday .

Any criticisms I make below become largely insignificant given the overall quality of the hotel and restaurant. The room itself was spacious, beautifully decorated, with amazing views out to sea, to the Needles, and beyond, right over to St Aldhelm's Head near Swanage. Sunset was a spectacle which unfolded directly in front of the window. Really good amounts of storage space for clothes. Very good free wi-fi; about the best I've ever come across in a hotel. Staff throughout the hotel and bar were peculiarly friendly and helpful - even when, as was the case when I was there, the restaurant was super-busy. Food, including breakfast, was largely first-rate, and the relatively long waits between ordering and service were fully justified by the quality of the meals. It was clear that everything was being prepared fresh and to order. I would personally much recommend Wight Mouse Ale; a very drinkable beer which is also very low in alcohol without tasting under-developed. I was travelling with a small dog. Yes, he is very well behaved, but I had a real sense of his being very welcome, the only condition being that he had to remain on the lead within the bar and restaurant – a not unreasonable request.

I have a number of very minor criticisms; things that realistically only take half a star off overall. I found the bed to be a little soft; and I appreciate that that is a personal thing. Many people would prefer that. The day that I arrived was very sunny, and the room was very warm, and did not cool down appreciably overnight. It is unfortunate that the main window is not designed to open, and the dormer above it is too small. I was amused that my efforts to cool the room down on the following day by closing the curtain were undermined by staff servicing the room opening it up again. Fortunately the following night was in any case cooler. There is a free-standing fan in the cupboard. I noticed it and then forgot about it; my failure of observation. There is a serious problem with water pressure, particularly so with drinking water. It is not cold and also tastes very stale; it would seem to come from a tank. Unfortunately this is also the case in the bar, so is clearly a problem throughout the building. Obviously, short of a truly major plumbing update, there isn’t much that can be done about this. However, unecological though it might seem, I think that the hotel could consider providing daily bottles of drinking water – and possibly a fridge?
