If you are truly interested in an older style hotel, this will work well for you. Mattress was comfy (not memory foam, thank goodness), room had an armoire for clothes, and the corner cozy queen room had a (small) bathtub. Breakfast was weirdly bad, despite good options on paper (oats were gluey, "pastries" were just mid croissants and muffins); coffee was somewhat weak. Wine and cheese were unremarkable, as well, but the service was good. It is somewhat annoying to go to White Swan for breakfast. Location is good--close to Nob Hill, Chinatown, and Union Square.

The noise! It’s an older hotel in a loud neighborhood. Bring your earplugs.
