Hotel las Américas Cuenca

The place was simple but very clean and very nice! People were very friendly. The wifi worked rather well. I cannot quite relate to those reviews on here who claim that the location would be bad. Yes, it is very close to the market and hence when you go outside there are people around selling all sorts of vegetables and meat, but you're also close to the city center. I was outside at night too a couple of times and while I would always strongly discourage anyone from going outside at night alone anywhere it didn't seem to me as if the neighborhood would be particularly bad.

This was a budget place, so in the end you get what you pay for. Surely it would be nicer if things were a little more modern etc. but given the price everything is absolutely great. The one thing I personally found awful is that the curtains in my room where white and hence it was very bright as soon as the sun rose.

Price wise it is convenient for a 1 night stay.

The location is next to a market. It is a bit smelly outside during the day and bit scary during the night. However, the hotel itself is safe.

It's not the cheapest one, but the location is good - 15mn walk to the bus station or 5min by taxi, as well as just a couple minutes to one of Cuenca's nice markets with delicious foods! We came back to this hotel on our following visit to Cuenca.

If you have a room towards the road, it can be noisy during the daytime, as the street is busy with vendors and the downstairs restaurant plays loud music on the outside. It's quite calm at night though.

Comfortable beds. good value.
