Domaine de Châteauvieux

The building is beautifully renovated. It's clean. I gave the hotel a bad mark even though some things are very good because this hotel/pension is not at all suitable for a traveler who has work in the area or is passing through the area. The location is suitable for those who come for the restaurant. I don't want to be mean, to be honest, but there are many things that make you feel bad.

The hotel is isolated. The hotel restaurant is excessively expensive and the menu is deceptive. This location should not be listed in this system. You end up in a very embarrassing situation: to get up from the table when you see the menu, to pay at least 100 CHF for a portion of food, to try to order a common plate (menu) and then to understand that each person pays a full amount of a common menu. We arrived in the late afternoon, it rained and there was a storm and we had to stay in the hotel. Airplanes that take off over the property pass continuously. At night there are fewer. I don't think it is a suitable location for a traveler. This should be a suitable location for the locals who can come for this restaurant, knowing why they come and who can sleep a night there. The presentation of wines (which is included in the menu but which you pay separately) is at the level where they are told that the 3 wines presented are made by neighbors in village X and the type of grape from which the wine is made. For those who have been to several wine presentations (awarded or rated) the situation is very comical. The scene in the restaurant is daily.

We booked late afternoon after our car broke down and we needed to get to a service centre nearby early the next morning. Despite arriving in the middle of their busy dinner service, we received a very personal welcome - the head chef happened to see me waiting, and came and help us find somehwere to park! That really set the tone of the place - relaxed luxury I would say. The room was large (with a couple of offered snacks) and must either have been sound-proofed or the other guests very quiet... we thought we were the only ones staying there until the lovely breakfast in the courtyard the next morning! It was a cold buffet with a wide selection - all the usual things you'd expect, plus some interesting additions - everything was very fresh (actually, except my husband's coffee), and tasty. As we were waiting for the car to be fixed, we had time to walk around the area a little - they have a terrace out the back with a lovely view over the vines which you can walk down through on a footpath sign-posted from the car park. You can also sneak a peak at their varied fruit trees and herb garden. The floral displays in the courtyards were also very nice. I would definitely go out of my way to return there - hopefully in time for dinner next time, since having seen the care with which the place is tended, I am sure the dinner would be beautiful!

The only negative: a pull out bed was provided for my 11 year old daughter, which wasn't clear on the booking,com website. It was comfortable but inevitably less comfortable than an actual bed. The pillows were so amazing though that she was happy as larry lying on top of one!

very helpful staff. I am 80 and reached there late at night after the canceled flight snd all. I fell down and hurt myself. Staff gave me a bandage, ice pack and took care of me

Amazing hotel on the outskirts of Geneva and owned by a chef who is approachable and puts everything into the food and the hotel. Lovely place for a night or two and the breaksfast is unbelieveable....not about quantity of options, but quality and freshness.
