The L Motel

I usually don't write reviews, but I encourage you to spend the 10-20 dollars more and stay somewhere else. Our room was in poor condition, and the heater was coming out of the wall. They had put a space heater in the room instead. We had a hard time getting a refund from the manager. It was very stressful.

Dirty walls, smells of over the top perfumed cleaners, cramped, bad repairs done and patches on walls, doors, holes in the door to the bathroom, incredibly slow internet. Main highway and thin windows. Why am I here? I'd been here before and it'd been great but now? Nasty. Don't come here unless you like to pay $70 plus pet fees (only told about those after I booked and arrived after 7 hrs on the road) for a small smelly and loud room. I wish I wasn't too tired to leave. I won't be back until there are new owners - although these ones are friendly it's just nasty.

Staff who work here are very friendly and helpful. The rates are affordable and the location is great! Easy walking distance to bars and restaurants downtown. Some of the rooms are outdated, but they are clean and comfortable.

The location is so convenient, it is only a 10 minute walk into the downtown area. The room was spacious, clean and had additionally a fridge and a microwave. The price for the service and room is amazing. Would stay again.

Stay away at all costs. I can't help but feel sorry travelers as I drive by the full p/l. There is no way this is a zero star motel much less a 2 star the property claims. It's in severe disrepair, the rooms are small for what you can get for the same money, the pictures online and the front desk are disingenuous when they show clean rooms or state you are getting queen beds when in reality the rooms are flop houses and the beds are fulls at best and are probably twin xls. I have warned you. Hint, just up the road is way better choices.

I have stayed at The L Motel on two different occasions, and I enjoyed my stay both times. For me, good wifi is important and during both of my stays the wifi was very reliable and strong enough for me to get some work completed. However, I also stayed there for the location which is only a few minutes walk to lovely downtown Flagstaff where you will find lots of excellent restaurants and bars. This is a city center that is very walkable and from The L Motel, you will not only be in a good location but you will also save money on the cost of parking in downtown Flagstaff. Both times, I researched the cost of motels with a similar location and both times The L Motel offered the lowest prices. The rooms are comfortable with large-screen TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, coffee makers, and comfortable beds. Also, it is a quiet motel, and I experienced no noise from other rooms. The motel does need some updates, but when this happens it will be substantially more expensive. The price is right, the location is excellent, and the owner is a very helpful gentleman who will pay close attention to your requests during your stay.

This is an older motel, decently maintained, with comfortable rooms fitted with large flat screen TV's, refrigerator and microwave. It. Is a bit rough around the edges, but maintained better than many other older motels in town. All the basics were in proper working order. .The property is owner operated, so questions or concerns were addressed with a swift and very courteous response. Location is near perfect, centrally located, walking distance to the many shops, restauranuts and local coffee roasting company. Road noise was noticable, but did not interfere with sleeping. Train sounds were noticed but not disruptive (as with many motels along Route 66).

I'm also not picky and was totally fine staying in an older, no-frills motel for a good price and location close to downtown, but the L Motel is pretty rough. It is in need of some serious renovations. The ceiling was stained back with cigarette smoke, there were holes in the walls and cigarette burns in the bedding. The bed WAS very comfortable and the shower pressure was great, but I didn't want to walk on the carpet in my bare feet. I think what bothered me the most was that is is advertised as $64 per night online but I could not book online so when I paid in person at the motel, it came out to $90 for the night which seemed outrageous given the state of the room. MIght be worth staying if it truly was $64 per night. There is a $15 pet fee.

...this was a really disappointing experience. The location is central, and I guess for the cheap price I wasn't expecting much, but the place needs an update urgently. The carpet in my room looked terrible. The ceiling and towels had stains. The wallpaper was peeling off, and there were holes in the walls. The bottom of the bathtub was discolored, and the bed frame was broken, so I sank into the mattress when I first sat down. Good thing I had booked a room with two beds. The other one was comfy at least, but there were hairs in the sheets. Room service didn't clean my room on the second day. On the next day, they came but it didn't look like they had put in a lot of effort. Staff is nice.

The proprietor was fantastic, helping us with our luggage, suggesting where to eat and even showing us how to work the bells and whistles on our rental car. The room was comfortable, if not the fanciest of decor, but clean and comfortable. Within easy walking distance from the train station.
