Comfort Inn & Suites Rapid City South - Mt Rushmore Gateway

Elevator was out but staff did carry our heavy bag up to the 3rd floor.

Location was great for visiting the parks. Breakfast had plenty of variety with hot egg and meat based entrees rotating each day as well as fresh fruits, cereals, juices and the famous waffles. It said housekeeping would only happen every 3 days for longer stays but it seemed to happen almost daily.. but not quite so it was a little confusing.

It was a three or four story building with one elevator. The elevator malfunctioned periodically and then was just plain out of service for 2 days until repair could be made. Unfortunately that included the day we checked out, but the staff did offer to help carry bags down. Was on a road trip with a friend and every place else we stayed they were able to split the bill between our two credit cards. But here the staff was apparently unfamiliar with that process and told us that they did not do that. We spoke to another manager later who said that they would do it when we were ready to check out. But unfortunately that person was not yet in for the day when we left so my friend and I had to straighten out the bill on our own.

The pool, hot tub, gym, clean room.

Elevator was malfunctioning! I was stuck with my 10 year son in the elevator for maybe 20 minutes. Elevator has no AC and we were about to pass out from the heat! Very Traumatic experience!
