The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa

We had an amazing time! Gorgeous resort with excellent service! We ate and drank like royalty! Everyone was wonderful!

I’ve stayed at many resorts, (including this one on multiple occasions), but my experience at the Omni Homestead was hands down the worst I’ve ever had, especially considering the high expectations I had for a place with such a well-established reputation. From the moment we arrived, it seemed like every part of our stay was mishandled. The Handicapped Room Drama We arrived to check-in, only to be told that the handicapped accessible room we had prepaid for was no longer available. The front desk initially claimed it was because the room had been "given away." Ultimately, the story changed and they said the room couldn’t be used because the smoke alarm wasn’t working. The Suite That Didn’t Accommodate They reassigned us to a suite, which we initially thought was a nice touch but the bathroom was not designed for wheelchair access. Even if we could have gotten into the bathroom, it was so cramped that it was unusable for someone with mobility issues. I don’t understand how a resort that claims to be accommodating could have such a glaring oversight. The Air Conditioner Issue We had to call the front desk and they moved us to yet another room, which at least had a bathroom that worked for us. However, this is where things went from bad to worse. The air conditioner in the room was running full blast, and despite two separate maintenance crews coming in to “fix” the problem, they couldn’t turn it off. The solution? They brought us a space heater for the night to try and make up for the chilly air conditioning. It was absurd—one would think a resort of this caliber would have better service and problem resolution. BTW: there was NO smoke alarm in this room - simply a hole in the ceiling where one should be and outside the room were 2 big giant metal containers sitting in the hall. Unbelievable Parking Charge When we checked out, we were charged $40 for parking, despite the fact that we had no car. We had been dropped off and picked up by family and were never told about any parking fees upon arrival. The front desk staff couldn’t provide any explanation other than a vague “it's our policy” that every room is charged a parking fee. This was the final straw in what had been an extremely disappointing stay. Conclusion I can’t emphasize enough how disappointing and frustrating our experience at the Omni Homestead Resort was. From poor communication and lack of proper accommodations for accessibility needs, to frustrating maintenance issues and hidden charges, this resort completely missed the mark. For the price we paid, we expected far more in terms of service and comfort. Comping our $60 breakfast charge would have been nice, but it was never even considered. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and I certainly won’t be returning.

Our last two of five nights, the Housekeeping staff did not come to our room until 4:30, and, 5:15. We were trying to prepare for supper, and, felt at this price point, that was inexcusable. My wife got fresh towels, and, made our bed. Their more formal dining room is where they attempt to make you believe they are “fine dining” by providing very small portions of food and soups. While good, it is far from fine dining and overpriced! However, their Jefferson Restaurant, is far superior in service, food, and value. Their causal dinning , Woody’s is very poorly managed. Once your order is taken, your server is hardly ever seen again. Very difficult to order another drink! The Host had a bad attitude at both lunch and dinner, the day we ate there. Again, poor supervision. I was told repeatedly we would get a survey for feedback, Two weeks later, not received. I complained at checkout, and, they expect a poor review, thus, no survey. Again, they are trying to hide their poor service with poor management! Don’t waste your money here!!!

The experience at the homestead was horrific they are resting on their laurels of history Service is terrible well if it was existing at all There is absolutely no leadership in that hotel I don’t mind paying but then I want great service food and at the very least a clean room for the money they charge The clerk at the desk was downside rude and most of the staff needs to be trained in customer service There were a couple of exceptions like jimmy at rubinos restaurant and Anthony the guest service clerk I would definitely not return to that hotel or an Omni for that matter it was a horrible stay

I had the pleasure of staying at The Homestead for a convention and everything was absolutely outstanding. The Homestead is the ultimate in classic luxury and is very open, bright, and welcoming. The piano player in the lobby and the ample seating areas made the hotel seem alive and welcoming. So much character and a fascinating mix of history and modern luxury in a very welcoming and open setting.

Excellent weekend gateway with nice amenities will be visiting again with new decorations for the winter vacation …..

Got to shoot skeet at their gun club and that was a super experience. Also got to do their VA wine experience and that was a fabulous time with such great information shared on some of VA's fantastic wines.

As a solo guest, one can often feel invisible but not so here. Staff was very attentive and friendly from the moment I drove to the front door to the time I left 3 days later. Highly recommend making dining reservations as it was necessary given the large number of other guests, even for one person. Food was outtanding at every venue from the Audubon, Jefferson Restaurant and Tap Room, Woody's and Martha's Market. Spa staff including the therapists were terrific, and very professional. My room and all other venues visited were clean, nicely appointed and welcoming. Only wish there were more electrical outlets in the room and found that out of service spa elevator were minor nits. Trail ride was delightful and beautiful with a kaleidoscope of fall leaf colors through the morning sunlight and the herd of deer that didn't want to move from the trail to let us pass!! It was if it was staged but it really was not!! Loved it and loved all of it. While the Homestead is a physically expansive place, it never felt that way. Instead, charming, warm and delightful.

I traveled to The Homestead with my husband for only one night to enjoy the spa! This was my fifth time at the spa and I do believe it's the best spa I've ever been to. The natural warm spring pool, traditional pool/spa, and indoor steam rooms and shower experiences are one of a kind. I love spending the day at the spa with my husband then showering and getting ready for dinner at the Jefferson. It's a must see and do! I also left a hanging bag of clothing at the Homestead and was devastated as it contained clothing to attend a wedding later in another state that weekend. However, the Homestead team showed their true kindness and service. The items were quickly found and mailed. Long story short, FedEx flopped and I needed an address change - again the Homestead lost & found/shipping team delivered and graciously helped me. My items were safely delivered. Way to go Homestead crew! Thank you very much and can't wait to return.
