We visited Sunrise Guesthouse part-way through a bikepacking trip from Agadir to Marrakesh and back via Essaouira. Regarding bikes, we left them outside in the secure rear garden of the property. We booked this stay at late notice it felt like picking the best of a bad bunch of hotel options still available. That was definitely an unfair evaluation in hindsight, as this stay was just as comfortable & clean as the rest of our nights in Morocco; albeit the town is a little more run-down & rough around the edges. The staff initially seemed a bit frosty/guarded, but soon warmed to us & we felt welcome throughout our stay. The room was clean & functional, with a powerful, hot shower & balcony with enough room to sit out on of an evening. It’s around a 5 minute walk into the centre of the town down the hill towards the coast, with a handful of restaurants and tabac-style shops. The town definitely has a somewhat scruffy, stereotypically surfer-like vibe and this seems to be reflected in the accommodation offered here. Still, it served us well.

The outside terrace was nice and thee we room had a private bathroom.

Difficult to communicate in English and dogs barking all night was not the best to sleep. Great city to surf, but coming back at night it’s a dead village with only dogs around - felt quite unsafe (nothing to do with the guest house - more with the city)

Felt at home, it was cleand and spacious and comfortable and well laid out. Simo was super friendly and welcoming. It was close to shops so easy to buy basic necessities and food.

A geart place with a clear surf theme going on and the atmosphere really is great. Simo, the owner, was an absolute highlight, very helpful and kind. We rented a surf and wetsuit from his shop and for a very good price too. The room was clean, beds were comfy, hot shower and a quiet night made for a great sleep. We also had a balcony with a view of the ocean. You can also eat there but there are other eateries nearby and so is the beach. Ample parking and overall one of the best experiences we had during our stay in Morocco. Thank you, Simo, we would stay again.
