The George Hotel

Brilliantly positioned near the train station, guest parking, clean room. We have re-booked for next year.

No complaints, just suggestions. The only thing we would have liked was some hand-wash in the bathroom. We had to use the tiny bottle of shower gel to wash our hands. Also music was playing outside until after midnight. Could this be stopped a little earlier or turned down slightly?

You defiantly need a train time table for this place as the main train line was just outside your window.Express trains and large diesel trains at all hours.So you need to time your sleep pattern with the passing trains ,approx every 45 mins at night.Not forgetting the diesel trains that actually stop outside your window at 0300 hrs and just vibrate your room.

Understandably outdated room as the building is historically old but a mixer tap wouldn't go a miss as well as hand soap for the room. The tv is smaller than laptop screen.

The location of The George in central Pangbourne makes this a good overnight stop for our annual row of The Thames. The staff are accommodating and friendly.

We were a party of 21 & I had assigned names to our 11 rooms on the Booking.com app. On arrival, the George could not see the names therefore checking in was a laborious process. It was a hot day and some of the rooms were uncomfortably hot. I shared a room on the top floor (room 9) where super hot water pipes that fed the hotel ran through our bathroom. It was pointless having a shower - you started sweating as soon as you came out. We had to request fans for the bedroom. Unfortunately our departure before 8am meant we couldn’t enjoy breakfast at the hotel - however there is a decent supermarket opposite where we could pick up supplies.
