Blue Moon Resort & Motel

We found this little gem when we came to Hill City to ride sxs with another group. Easy to find, about a mile out of town. Parking a truck and trailer was not convenient at all. Office was in disarray and I was worried about the condition of the room after being in the office area but the room was pleasant. Overlooks the lake so that was nice, fireplace in the room but we never could get it to come on. Pretty dated room and bathroom but was fine for two nights after riding all day. Negatives that we couldn’t over look: no hairdryer in the room, beds were not comfortable. We would stay here again as there aren’t many options in this town but I would come better prepared.

Great cabin experience on a lake. With a market and restaurants within a mile. 18 minutes to Grand Rapids. Cabins are well kept. Cabin views of lake are very nice.

Nice view from the covered deck. Handy to town. Comfortable beds.

Check in was rather dicey. No one there - called and got recorded message. Eventually the owner made his way across the yard but wasn't familiar with the Booking.com reservation system. Finally got that straightened out so I didn't end up paying double. Bedspreads were looking very tired and the pillowcases had a peculiar smell. Sliding glass doors out to deck did not lock - only a piece of board used to prevent opening. Remote for AC didn't seem to work - perhaps dead batteries? Had been told to stand under the unit and point the remote up at it. There was a lovely large overhead fan which appeared to have only one speed - slow!! Lots of maintenance required on the motel deck and surroundings.

It was a convenient stopping point beyond the hustle and bustle of Duluth.

The air conditioner didn’t work well. We slept with the sliding door open for the cooling night time air.

Staff was excellent and very accommodating, stay was enjoyable, and room was clean.

Loved the “contactless” process and we were able to book same day which was very helpful. We were literally in after dark and out at first light. Room felt somewhat dated but decent & clean. The FP was a nice touch however it was on full blast when we got there (on a 90’ day) 😳 thankfully we finally figured out the upper A/C unit and using its remote (& also how to turn off the FP) So eventually it cooled off and we were able to sleep okay. Looked like a fun place to hang out at for longer but we were just passing through.

When we arrived the room was very very hot!
