Villa Moniz by LovelyStay

Loved the location and the home was really beautiful and the views were gorgeous.

I didn’t like that the home seemed to need some basic maintenance. The floors were tiled and looked clean but our socks proved otherwise. The water was shut off at one point during our stay which in Madeira I know that means the water bill may have been unpaid. They did handle the issue right away. Also, I had made a point of picking a home that had a washer and dryer and the dryer was obviously malfunctioning. Made a terrible loud sound the moment we turned it on. The staff said they would get someone to come check but we never got use of the dryer which is kind of challenging when traveling with kids and beach towels were not at all provided. Also, there’s no AC and due to location of home and floor to ceiling windows (some with no blinds) we were relegated to stay on the lower level in order to get some relief. There were three fans in the laundry room which we used in the 3 lower level bedrooms. There were some shower drains that were backing up for which I also called maintenance. For the amount we paid would have been nice to have come into a home that didn’t require me having to figure out maintenance issues.

Great views and loads of space

The location was just under the motorway/dual carriageway so was slightly noisy in the early rush hour

Nothing

A friendly host met us upon arrival to give us a house tour, the keys and further information. The villa was very big with good facilities such as the pool table, jacuzzi and fully quipped kitchen. Every bedroom had its own bathroom and there was an additional toilet on every floor (3 floors in total). Bed sheets and towels were provided. There was enough room to safely park 2 rental cars (3 would've fit as well). The villa had a good location on which you had a beautiful view of Funchal. Would definitely stay at Villa Moniz again!

Cleanliness could have been better, there were several cockroaches in the house, some of which were already dead and others we had to kill ourselves. Also the entire villa only had 1 fan. Providing the bedrooms with a fan each or distributing some fans/AC's throughout the villa would have been nice against the heat.
