"Misleading Listing – Major Disappointment"

4.0

Monopoli - the most beautiful town in Puglia. Apartment is in the excellent location right in the middle of old town. Gabri - the property manager - very attentive and helpful View from the roof top Air-con across the apartment Comfy beds

This property is misrepresented. It is not a two bedroom apartment as advertised - it is a one bedroom apartment spread over two floors with rooftop access. The ground floor space is completely separate from the main apartment, with no internal access to the upper floors. It has its own entrance and is disconnected from the main living area, which made it unsafe for my child to stay there despite my specific questions about the layout before booking. The ground floor unit had a serious cockroach problem. A can of insect spray had been left, suggesting the issue was known. Impossible to ventilate. The rooftop area, a supposed highlight, was very disappointing. The umbrella was broken so we could not use the space during first 4 days. The white, plastic chairs were filthy, the loungers broken with shade structure loose and unstable. Overall, it felt bare, dirty, and neglected—a wasted opportunity given its huge potential. The apartment was not properly cleaned before our arrival (clumps of hair and dust balls, stains on the furniture and walls, mouldy shower), and the overall condition was far from what you’d expect from a place described as “luxury.” Several items were broken or poorly maintained which resulted in the maintenance staff entering the apartment twice during our stay. Once when we were out and on another occasion when my teenage daughter was alone a man entered for repairs—an unacceptable and distressing situation on holidays. Another major disappointment was the beach access. The listing promised a beach just 2 minutes away (Cala Porta Vecchia), but in July 2025 it was completely closed for construction and fenced off. This was a major reason for choosing the property and should have been clearly disclosed. The listing still remains unchanged. Overall, this is not a luxury apartment and certainly not worth the high price (we paid over £2000 in July). We’ve stayed in far better places in Monopoli (i.e. Albergo Diffuso) for much less.

The location was great. Our check-in manager, Gabri, was excellent and responded immediately to any requests or queries.

Our bedroom was on the ground floor, and it was very dark with an entrance from the street. It was totally separate from the kitchen, which was accessible through two flights of steep stairs.
