SureStay Hotel by Best Western Fernley

Room was huge, which was a big plus because I was visiting with my 4 grandkids so their was lots of space for everyone. Breakfast was good and all staff members were very nice. The pool was drained so that was a bummer.

I didn't like the fact that 2 staff members on 3 different occasions during my short Friday to Sunday stay ( knocked) but came into my room thinking I was gone surprising my boyfriend. When i said something to the desk clerk their was another girl next to her who said " that was me , I didn't see a car parked there below in any of the spaces" but had no explanation as to why she went into my room in the first place but when my car was there no one came to the room at all. Good thing my boyfriend was there. Very suspicious. For that reason alone i will never stay there again.

At first I was pleased with the gal at the front desk during check in she was very nice and got me checked in quickly. I then got into the room and it immediately smelled like cigarette smoke even though the hotel is 100% smoke free. I had my 4 year old son and tried to turn on the tv and it wouldn't work. I called the front desk and she asked if the remote worked. I told her it clearly wasn't working otherwise I wouldn't be calling. She told me I would need to bring the remote to the front office (on the complete opposite side) and get new batteries. Instead of packing my son back in the car and driving over because it was too late and cold to walk, I decided to mess with the cords and see if something wasn't plugged in. I pulled out the dresser to access the outlet and found so much trash, hair, dust behind it, it made me gag. One of the outlets wasn't working so I switched them and plugged the tv one it and got it to turn on. The problem was then there was no cable. I called the front desk back and she told me there was nothing she could do and I just needed to figure it out and mess with the cable box. She didn't offer to come help and told me there was no other rooms to switch me to. I eventually went to the front office and again was USELESS. The shower was AWFUL, it took me a couple minutes to even figure out how to turn it on and once I did figure it out, the water dribbled out. This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed out and that is saying a lot since I have stayed in a shack in Costa Rica before.

Location

The rooms need upgrading, there was mold in the bathroom, i could hear the showers in the rooms next to the one i was staying in and the occupants getting ready for work at 4:30 in the morning.

This is an older motel, but everything worked well. The room was neat and clean and comfortable.

The staff we met were all helpful and fine, but there obviously aren't many people working there. The room was a little dark and could have used more lighting.
