À da Avó -The Guesthouse

(read whole review!!) The room itself was nice — clean, comfortable, and fairly spacious. The shared bathroom was also clean and bigger than expected, which was a plus. The real highlight, though, was the breakfast! 🥐 The food was great, and the breakfast staff were so kind and friendly — honestly, they were the saving grace of this place. Without that experience, I’d probably rate it lower.

Overall, the stay wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either. The place is clean, the room was good, and the breakfast was fantastic. But the lack of professionalism and basic support really brought the experience down. I’m glad we only stayed one night We had a couple of really strange experiences with (I think) the owner and her father. When we first arrived, we couldn’t figure out how to work the air conditioning. I called the number provided, and the woman who answered immediately went into a state of panic instead of just helping us out. It was hard to get a straight answer from her and she kept saying that no one was there to help. It was a bit awkward, but we eventually figured it out. Later that night (around 10:45 p.m.), we came back from dinner and couldn’t get into our room because the door was jammed. We tried for about 30 minutes with no luck. When I called again, she got flustered and said she’d have to wake up her 80-year-old father to help us. He showed up clearly irritated, made snide comments about the air conditioning issue, and told us we broke the door and shouldn’t lock it again (??). It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional, especially considering we paid a decent rate for the night. It also felt weird that there was no staff on-site (or available at all!!) after hours. I understand it’s a small, family-run business, but guests shouldn’t feel guilty for asking for help when something goes wrong. The next morning, I spoke with another guest who said they also had issues with their door — so it definitely wasn’t just us.

We stayed in the ensuite, lovely spacious accommodation which had its own kitchen, which we didn't use but would be great for people who would want to make food, the breakfast was really nice, fresh pastries every morning 😋 the kitchen was open all day long, a little balcony where we sat and had our morning coffee, everything was great

It was a little too far away from the centre, a 15 minutes walk, but apart from that I highly recommend

Wir hatten die Suite, welche sehr groß und geräumig war. Der Check in war sehr einfach und durch die Rosafarbene Tür war der Eingang gut zu finden

Im Badezimmer hat es stark nach Abfluss gerochen.

Negativ: Nur kaltes Wasser in der Dusche. Matratze sehr durchgelegen. Abfluss im Badezimmer sehr gestunken. Positiv: Möglichkeit für kleines Frühstück. Ausleihbarer Sonnenschirm für den Strand. Unkomplizierter Check-in /check-out.

No tengo nada que acotar

Wir haben das Hotel storniert nach einer Besichtigung. In der Gegend mochten wir den Mietwagen nicht abstellen und der Blick in die Rezeption war nicht vertrauenserweckend

Wir konnten schon vor der Check-In Zeit ins Zimmer um unser Gepäck abzustellen, da es zum Glück schon fertig war. Auch am Tag der Abreise konnten wir das Gepäck noch den ganzen Tag im Wohnzimmer (frei zugänglich im Haus) abstellen, bis wir geflogen sind. Wir hatten eine Klimaanlage im Zimmer und die Zimmer sowie die Bäder waren sehr sauber. Es war nicht mehr alles im neusten Zustand, aber dennoch nicht schlecht. Morgens gab es dann noch ein kleines Frühstück mit Brötchen, ein paar Sachen für drauf, Pastel de Nata, Saft, Milch, Kaffee. Insgesamt also ein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Great spot, very clean, smack in the middle of Faro. Nice staff. Very quiet too, that's what I loved about it.
