The Griffin Inn

We had lamb shank the first evening - it was out of this world. Unbelieveable. Gorgeous minty gravy, mash. Amazing. Second night burger and chips. Again, best burger …in memory. No fat in it. Beautiful. It was clean, friendly, and handy for our walk.

Bed was a bit ropey but ok!

Room was comfortable and a reasonable size.

Paying an extra £5 for a continental breakfast. I had phoned and spoken to a lady and explained that I was diabetic and couldn't eat croissants etc but was told there would be cereals. However, they were sugared and unsuitable. Could not believe that Weetabix weren't provided. £5 for 2 slices of toast and coffee is extortionate on top of the room fee. I also feel that to charge me £40 a night for my dogs when I left the room immaculate as my dogs were NOT allowed on the bed and I had brought their own beds anyway was a bit much. I appreciate that not all people are so good about this but do feel that my room could have beern checked and the fee for the dogs adjusted acccordingly. Clever photography made it look like the hotel was rural instead of being on a busy road with only narrow pavements on which to walk the dogs. Evening meals: poor choice and the fries were clearly frozen and some were black round the edge.

Really great service, friendly staff and great food

Staff friendly. Meal was good.

Very dated. Uncomfortable bed. Very expensive for what we got. Room was musty and had cobwebs however bathroom was clean as were linens. Dogs not allowed in the garden. For a dog friendly pub this meant we couldn’t allow our dogs out. We booked for 2 nights but only stayed one night as was not as expected.
