excellent breakfast, attractive downstairs layout, friendly staff.

Grossly overpriced: more than £300 per night for a tiny room with poor lighting, a small bed, no comfortable seating and a fire escape outside the only window was scandalous. I complained to the manager, but she was unsympathetic, and even told me that it was normal for a business to try and charge its customers as much as it could get away with. Service at dinner was not good, and the restaurant manager made no effort to apologise (we didn't even see him). We had had high hopes of the Bonnie Badger and were deeply disappointed.

Breakfast was great but service was strange .Staff were professional but a little unfriendly.

General unfriendliness of staff.

Warm welcome, nice spacious room with top quality bedding and bathroom. All staff well trained, friendly and happy in their work. Garden lunch / bbq and breakfast top notch as you would expect. Well worth a detour on the way to / from Edinburgh.

Meals were fantastic.

Fantastic hotel with a lot of nice added service touches, like a tray of fresh lemonade and cooking left outside your room In the evening.

Nothing, everything was great. It is quite expensive but still value for money for what you get and the premium service.

Breakfast was lovely.

The room was dark and dingy, overlooking storage sheds and recycling bins so was very noisy at times. Windows could do with a clean and some privacy screening, as people walking past. Didn’t want to spend any time in this room, so it was not the relaxing stay we were hoping for.

The property was nice - a few stairs to carry suitcases up - but only two floors in total. It has had extensive renovations which allows for nice dining areas inside and out, and nice bathrooms. The food/restaurant is very good - and perhaps the main selling point for the hotel.

Access to the rooms, certainly carrying bags/luggage up to the rooms isn’t simple if you have a lot of heavy luggage. There were some staff members who simply need to find somewhere else to work, and finally even with multiple days advance notice we weren’t able to shorten our stay. The hotel blamed Booking.com, and the website blamed the hotel. Bare in mind we had booked and been charged several months in advance - so the hotel had our full payment. This matters because ultimately the consumer in this instance is shown on the Booking.com website a recalculated total cost - but neither the hotel nor the website honoured this. This resulted in significant excess costs for our trip. In short - as much as we liked the restaurant and food, the rest of the experience left a bitter taste in our mouth, and we certainly wouldn’t recommend this hotel. However we would recommend the restaurant. Our experience could have been very easily resolved, but poor management resulted in everyone else being to blame and us as consumers being ripped off.
