Best Western Fairfax City

My husband and I stayed at Best Western Fairfax for a weekend trip while attending an event at National Harbor. The room rate was very reasonable for the area, and the location was convenient for traveling to National Harbor, MGM, and several great restaurants and brunch spots nearby. One of the biggest positives was the staff. We arrived early, and our room was ready, so they allowed us to check in ahead of schedule. The front desk team was friendly, accommodating, and provided excellent customer service throughout our stay. The lobby was also clean, modern, and nicely updated. We did request a room change because our original room faced an interior wall, and the staff handled the request immediately without any issues. Their responsiveness was definitely appreciated. The room itself was fairly decent. The bathroom was newly renovated and nice looking. The room was ok. The bed was average. They didn’t have extra pillows which was interesting to say the least. That said, there were a few things I wish I had known before booking. The hotel has more of a motel-style layout, with exterior room entrances and walkways surrounding the pool area. Depending on where your room is located, getting to the front desk or breakfast area may require a fairly long walk outside. The complimentary breakfast was a nice amenity, but having to get fully dressed and walk outdoors first thing in the morning wasn’t ideal for me. My husband enjoyed it, but I ended up skipping it. The parking layout was also a bit confusing, especially around the rear of the property. It’s manageable, but better signage or a more intuitive layout would have helped. Overall, this wasn’t a horrible stay. The staff and reasonable pricing made a positive impression, but the property’s layout wasn’t quite what I expected. I would consider staying again for a quick overnight trip if I needed to be close to National Harbor, MGM, or Washington, DC. However, for a longer stay or a family vacation, I’d probably explore other options first.

It was hair in the tub when I got there but I always bring cleaning supplies whenever I stay away from home!!

The breakfast was pretty good. Lots of seating and the staff was nice.

The lighting over the bathroom mirror needs to be brighter. Other than that, everything was good.
