Sonder Solarena

Great little property right by the beach. Everything was as described and perfect if you're driving as it has excellent transport links.

This is my second time staying at this location. It's nice, clean, close to the beach and state park/beach area.

Parking charges were high for this small property. The shower wasn't clean. Hair under the soap and hair on the shower curtain.

It was a nice place. Small and limited parking at the hotel. Not a lot of amenities

Hotel fine but fire alarm went off 2 out of 4 nights at 3 am

Upon arrival we got offered a late check out and an upgraded room! Staff was very nice and the hotel was very secure and clean. After hours you had to enter a passcode to enter the building so that made us feel very safe. Will for sure be staying here again!

All went well with our stay. A few things in our room #405 - The refrigerator leaked a little bit but told the front desk the next morning. The shower gel and conditioner pump wasn’t working. During the afternoon and evenings can be a little noisy but they did have ear plugs if you needed them. Would stay there again since it’s walking distance to the beach!

Oversold...and underdelivered. Stayed a a few other Sonder properties before where they made an investment ..but the one in Newport Beach feels like a very old and dated property that only got a paint job. The ceilings and walls are thin, the doors have 1-2 cm gaps thus you hear every word that is spoken on the hallway and in the rooms next to you. In addition, the hotel is next to a 6 lane noisy high-way...and the fotos are massively photoshopped to make it look like the highway does not exist. The hotel feels like walking into a cheap street motel....but charging high prices. Of course the beach is across the street...and if offers the other Sonder benefits (i.e. lounge, coffee etc) .... and of course you have too accept the lack of some services ..as at night only a security guard is there...you dont get service if there are any issues...we had one with a missing duvet and that problem could not get fixed by the "on duty attendant"). After a bad first night we decided that this does not work for us...Sonder allowed us to cancel the rest of the stay we had booked and gave us credits fro the nights we did not use. (thus we moved to another hotel in the area). Thus reaction to the problem as appropriate and good.

The room was clean and stylish. Staff was very friendly and accomodating to our needs. Only fault would be the water pressure and temperature could've been better.

Nice place to stay and super close to the beach! Being able to walk to the beach was the best part. The rooms are simple but they have everything you need. It’s not a luxury hotel but a cheap way to be close to the beach. Worth it!!
