Best Western Mayport Inn and Suites

When we arrived, our room had been given away and we were charged the same rate for a room that cost significantly less per night than the one I initially booked on Hotels.com. We were able to move into the room we originally booked the next morning, from a room with two queen beds into the king bed suite (which is what I originally purchased). Both rooms had bugs in the bathroom. In the king suite (which should have been cleaned directly before we moved into it), I opened the shower curtain and found a dead spider in it. The compartments for the towels and the toilet paper holder also had dust inside. I put a brand new pair of socks on my two year old and after only a couple of minutes of walking on the carpet in our room, the bottom of his socks were filthy, like the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed in months. When my husband asked the housekeeper if she could come back to clean in 30 minutes to give us time to leave the room, she replied she only cleaned from 9-10am and wouldn’t be able to come back that day. To my knowledge, our room was never cleaned during our week-long stay. Finally, there was the pool. We took our son, niece and nephew to swim and the pool walls were covered in algae, the bottom of the pool was filthy, and there was all kinds of plastic and debris floating in it. The staff did clean it the next day, but we never tried to use it again. The front desk staff was extremely kind and friendly, but the damage had already been done.

UPDATE: I found out that I was not being recorded but that the repairman failed to put the cover in place on the unit. The general manager did not call me back; I continually called until I got to speak with him. He seemed to have understood my fears and other issues and said he would reimburse me for the stay and asked that I give them another change. He further stated they are beginning upgrades in August 2025, so hopefully there will be an upgrade in air odor and overall appearance. BEWARE!!! We checked into our room. As we were getting settled for bed, we discovered a blue light shining in our room. Not sure what it was, we had a sleepless night. The second night it bothered us even more and as we began to investigate; we wondered if it was a hidden camera. Concerned, we went to the front desk and eventually were able to be moved into a new room. The evening clerk suggested we tell Mia during check out. According to the night clerk, she tried to contact the manager; however, he did not respond back to her. We told Mia and she stated that no one has ever mentioned the blue light and said that it was a new unit and was normal. I have photos and have never seen anything like it before. It is interesting that no one has ever complained yet she says that is normal. We moved rooms and was not able to have another king size bed. We ended up having a two-queen; semi-handicapped room that smelled like they use old rags to clean with. Very musty odor all over the place. This is very concerning to think that someone has placed a camera in our room, and we are being watched. The staff are uncaring. This is scary and to think that my travels are now being limited due to fear of cameras being placed in the area I dress and sleep. I've tried to contact management, and they do not respond.

Location was good. Room was okay, clean.

Smelled musty, nothing was plugged in - mini-fridge, coffee, or TV. Noisy in the morning.
