Boutique Hotel Helmhaus Zürich

The location was excellent, a few minutes walk to the lake or the old town and very close to a tram stop for the numbers 4 or 15 to/from Central (closest stop to train station). (free if you have the Zurich card). I had a room with seating area which was more than adequate and they supplied a kettle as well as having a communal tea/coffee station by the breakfast room. Bed was comfortable with good pillow choices and my room was mainly quiet although a little disturbance from other guests entering and leaving their rooms which cannot be controlled. Bathroom was a good size, shower was handheld with very hot water and good power. Toilet had good flush and the toilet paper was thick, soft and in plentiful supply. Plenty of choices for a great breakfast which was included with my room price. Food was well prepared and well presented. All the staff at front desk, breakfast and housekeeping were very friendly and exceptionally helpful making it an excellent experience. Overall this hotel very clean and very good.

There was a bit of a step into the room and again into the bathroom ... not really a problem unless you forgot it was there! oops! The door was a old-fashioned key so had to remember to look the door when leaving the room and as the front desk wasn't always manned, had to carry the key and fob around to get back in to the building. The safe was at floor level in the wardrobe so had to crouch down on the floor to use it. The kettle lived on the window sill and the view overlooked the hotel opposite. I could see into their room so presume they could see into mine as I was making the tea. There was a minibar but no fridge for personal use. They were a little stingy with the towels, just one bath towel and one hand towel supplied but I'm sure they would have given more if I'd asked (which I didn't).
