Atholl Palace Hotel

We booked a night to stay at a castle during our trip to Scotland. We were placed in a room on the main floor which was towards the end of a hallway. The room was very musty of which the stench stuck to our clothes even after we left. For the amount we paid, we expected a bit more. The breakfast was better than expected and the staff in the breakfast area were very friendly.

Really enjoyed our two-night stay in one of the turret suites. The hotel was still beautifully decorated for Christmas but very peaceful being a few days after Hogmanay. Overall condition of the building is excellent, especially given its age and historic nature, which must make it a real challenge to maintain. Our room, bathroom and the turret lounge above were very clean and well presented. Excellent comfy super-king bed. Public rooms were lovely - warm and welcoming. Swimming pool area was very clean and a pleasure to use.

Stunning surroundings and delighted to see rooms had been upgraded since our last stay . Dress code needed for breakfast for some as people in pj s and sliders ! Not in keeping with a 4 star hotel. The Australian bar man “Rory” I think, was excellent and welcoming .

Lovely food, lovely hotel but far too hot so found it difficult to sleep, so uncomfortable stay.

Room 136 was located above a pub with very loud live music. It kept us awake until midnight and completely ruined our stay. Can't believe we paid £175 for this experience. Will Hotels.com give us a refund?

Very relaxed, comfortable hotel with professional and friendly staff. The very spacious lounges, restaurant and bar are proper Scottish ‘auld world’ in decor and furnishings. Magnificent.

The hotel was grand from the outside and was beautiful in the snow. Inside was a bit chilly even though they had several, lovely open fires in the main foyet. The carpeted wall lift was small but effective, but was busy at times. Breakfast was hearty and plentiful, but most of the staff in the hotel looked miserable half the time. Our room looked like it had been chopped from a previous larger room, in two, and was very grey, with little thought for interior design. The bathroom was also small with no window and the water pressure in the shower was reduced. There was a bath but u needed to be a munchkin to really enjoy it! The views from our room were stunning but the single glazing allowed the chill in, even though the radiator was on full blast. We wouldn't stay again. Sorry

Beautiful valley view

The hotel was really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of some areas was not good, this includes cobwebs. The bar menu was good, a bit pricey but it is expected. The Al a cart menu on the other hand was very disappointing, no imagination when it can to the menu and very limited. The breakfast buffet was great. My partner and I had a good time though.

Wonderful stay. Food amazing. Bed incredibly comfortable. Staff soo happy and very friendly. Reception staff extremely helpful. Highly recommend a visit..stunning countryside!
