"The location is great, conditions no so good."

4.0

We rented one apartment for 6 people, but in the evening we discovered that the sofa-bed frame wasn't holding, most of the springs gone or broken. Because was late and our time in Kauai very short we didn't want to spend time complaining and dealing with it (the reception is in another location) so we moved the mattress (thin and old) and two of us slept on the floor. I wonder how they had prepared the bed without checking the condition of it! Also, the second day the fridge started making a very loud noise, so the two people in the living room had a very hard time sleeping. For fairness, the 4 in the rooms were comfortable. Evidently the apartments are not very well kept, but the amenities and the beach are great and safe for the kids and the location convenient.

"Best spot on the planet!"

10.0

The Outrigger has comfortable, upscale accommodations right on the beach. This beach is special: a small manmade lagoon for the little ones makes for an easy spot for families. You will find a large flat shelf of rocks which creates another natural lagoon area. This was our second visit. This time, the lagoon fed a little river that made its way out to sea. Quite an interesting spot which entertained our family for hours. A rare Hawaiian monk seal came ashore and rested right near the lagoon while we were there. Volunteers sectioned off a spot for her to rest. It was really a treat to see her and it didn't take away from our play area at the beach. The grounds of the Outrigger are lovely with tropical plants everywhere and lots of shade. The pool is roomy and with a beautiful view of the ocean. We have stayed in both a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom and found them both to be quite nice. The 1 bedroom worked well for our family, having the kids sleep on a pullout sofa. I don't think adults would have been happy on the pullout though. A lovely breeze is present all the time so AC is not needed or desired. I felt that the kitchen could have been cleaner on this visit so I'm hopeful housekeeping will improve that. I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Outrigger. We will visit as much as we can afford it!

"Amazing first time to Kauai"

10.0

We thoroughly enjoyed staying w/ the Outrigger on our first trip to Kauai. The grounds were impecable, the staff were wonderful, so enjoyed meeting and getting to know them expecially "John" our grounds security. He was so knowledgeable of the Island and so full of wonderful stories. . . . The one thing that really disappointed me was our room. The wallpaper was hanging off the walls in the extra bath, the main bath was not kept clean, there was mold on the shower curtain, the ceiling & walls, the vanity cabinet & drawers were very old and not clean. The kitchen countertop was cracked and broken and not kept clean, I went out and bought some counter cleaner to use prior to fixing anything to eat. The kitchen drawers were also broken out. I realize these condos are privately owned and rented out for vacationers, so it is up to them to keep them clean and renovated. But for the price we were charged, I'm disappointed in what we were provided. I came w/ two other couples and their condos were wonderful, clean and adequately supplied w/ housing items, so I pray our next visit to the Outrigger our experience will be better w/ property owners that take pride in their rental property.

"Big Orange Fan"

4.0

We visited last year and it was our Best Vacation ever. This year not so good. We asked for Garden View to be closer to the garden only to realize we got the only unit (416) without also a view of the ocean, our mistake. We like the Lae Nani location but not our room this time. The unit being on the ground floor had a mildew smell when we first entered. When my wife contacted the front office about it, she was told there was nothing that she could do about it and was somewhat rude. We opened all the windows and let it air out and that helped a little. During our stay a Monk Seal was visiting daily and laying on the beach. It was neat to watch how the volunteers and security staff protect these endangered animals. Last year, we went to the state park on the west side and drove to the lookout but could not see the view for the fog. Someone mentioned this is the best view on the entire island. This year the wind cooperated and we were able to view and the sight was awesome.

"Quiet and Relaxing and Beautiful"

8.0

Compared to a hotel this condo was great and roomy with two baths, kitchen and a great view. It was quiet and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The area has the local hawaiin vibe which we loved.

"Nice Grounds but Beach view on the decline."

8.0

We have stayed at the LaNani on several occasions always a pleasant experience. We had not been there in 3 or 4 years and of course changes happen. The most noticeable is the addition of the pool fencing which blocks most of the ocean view from the ground floor of building 2. It is understandable that this was a necessary addition since the construction of the condos across the street. We were also disappointed that so many people from outside are allowed to access the beach directly through the La Nani. Even though there is security , it does not seem to be enforced. Also the small gate from the La Nani to the public access does no good without a lock. Understanding that Hawaii beaches are all public it still is disturbing that beachgoers from outside the condos are allowed to play at will on the grounds owned and maintained by the La Nani. We really love the La Nani but really would like to see some changes. Guaranteed room reservation, buildings 1 and 2 are to close to the public access trail and only a few feet from bedroom windows. Always on the alert because it sounds like someone is right in the room with you. We do like it there and appreciate the staff working with us to get a ground floor condo but would have to think seriously about staying if we had to stay in building 1 or 2 again.

"FEELS LIKE HOME-DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE"

8.0

This was our second stay at Lae Nani, so that speaks for itself. The condo this time, however was not as comfy as the one we had prior, so each condo has its own pros and cons. We had an oceanfront/ground floor one, but because of the plants and way it faced the ocean, we got virtually no breeze and it faced the setting sun, so... Our hall toilet would not flush (we discovered that in the middle of the first night), but as soon as I notified the office the next morning, it was promptly fixed. Also, one of the front desk staff (JLynn) was so helpful in our trying to purchase a day trip to Oahu. She took extra time and patience that was not in her job description. Very sweet! Peaceful location, lovely and large pool, a small area of the beach seemed to be safe for kids ( I don't have any but saw other's in). This condo complex is just across a parking area from the "Coconut Grove" shopping area. ABC store close. Also, just up the highway there's grocery stores, Long's drugs and anything else you might want. We love staying in Kapaa. Not a big touristy feel. Kapaa is about 15min. from Lihue and about 30 minutes from Poipu. Nothing is too far. Don't hesitate to book at Lae Nani. Clean, nice location, and friendly.
