Occidental Faro

Apart from its great location (on the waterfront, walking distance to old and new town), the rooftop bar is undoubtedly the hotel's best feature. Wonderful for sunset drinks and breakfast, and for watching the storks fly overhead and planes landing nearby! The breakfast fare is quite good, esp the fresh fruit and juices, but not the coffee from the machine....so be prepared to order (and wait!) for a coffee prepared by the bar staff. We had sunset drinks and nibbles every evening but the service was slow and not particularly friendly or efficient (got our order wrong and lukewarm when it arrived) so we decided against having dinner there. A pity, as the rooftop location is just great and it would've been convenient for our adult family group (kids 27 - 33 yrs) If you can secure a Superior Double Room...at least the corner one....then that's excellent but the Premium Double is very cramped and the "balcony" space would be better utilised as part of the room. The shower is good but little details like giving a decent selection of tea/coffee and drinks in the fridge should be better for a hotel of this calibre. We stayed just 3 nights and didn't bother with the spa/tiny pool as we were busy outdoors. Would I recommend it? Absolutely esp if you can get a deal. The location and balcony are well worth it!

Excellent service surtout de la part de Carlos à la réception. Un grand merci! Proximité du centre ville. Établissement très propre avec d’excellents déjeuners. Personnel de chambre fait un excellent travail.

A great location and a very good breakfast. Seating area for breakfast was lovely overlooking the Ria Formosa.

Pool area was a bit disappointing. A spa pool rather than a swimming pool. Rooms felt rather corporate with very bland decor but was comfortable.
