Blue Lantern Inn, A Four Sisters Inn

This is a lovely property with a great location. We had room 305 with a terrace and good views of the ocean and marina. Many restaurants are within a very walkable distance in the Lantern District. The breakfasts were very nice each morning and there is a happy hour (actually 4-5:30 I think it was) with wines, cheeses and cookies.

Great hotel, well maintained, clean, very nice and helpful staff. I found the bed a bit soft and wish that breakfast, which was good, had included fish choices.

Friendly service, great clean rooms, fantastic location and wonderful breakfasts.

Our stay at the Blue Lantern was truly memorable! We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and had booked a room with an ocean view. Not only was the room available 2 hours before check in, we were given glasses of some very nice sparkling wine to start off our celebration. A couple hours later, we joined in the complimentary happy hour with wine and appetizers. We were expecting just some cheese and crackers, but the staff served platters of salad, fruit, veggies, the works, that would make a very nice light dinner for some. We were heading out to dinner shortly, but the light bites were just right to hold us over. After dinner and a pleasant walk around the lantern district around the inn, we returned to our room with a spacious balcony overlooking Dana Point harbor. We proceeded to enjoy the spectacular view accompanied by the complimentary bottle of sparkling wine we received as an upgrade. Before leaving the next day, we partook of the complimentary breakfast. Again, Blue Lantern exceeded our expectations with a very nice spread of eggs, bacon, yogurt, bagels, granola, fruit, along with some really good coffee. The friendly staff made sure the breakfast area was clean and the food well stocked. Thank you for a great stay, Blue Lantern!

I’ve never left a 1-star review before, but unfortunately, this experience was disappointing to say the least. Due to an unexpected emergency (fire in our area), we had to leave before our scheduled stay. Despite reaching out through both Expedia and directly to the hotel to explain the situation, we received no response or willingness to offer a refund or even a credit toward a future stay. I appreciate that Expedia tried and shared their efforts to repeatedly contact the hotel. Not Expedia’s fault. The property itself is beautiful, and we were genuinely enjoying our visit, until we had to leave quickly. However, the lack of human consideration during a difficult moment speaks volumes. I understand policies exist for a reason, but a little empathy goes a long way, and sadly, that was missing. Will not attempt to stay at a 4 Sisters Inn again in the future. While emergencies are rare, this facility doesn’t extend care.

The Blue Lantern is a beautiful boutique property. The location and ocean views were serene and the hotel staff were all very welcoming. It is a perfect place to get away. We look forward to a return trip.

Nice and convenient location with easy parking in quiet area

Room was ok. For the price of $800.00 it definitely left a lot to be desired. But the worst thing is I had a prepaid room yet they charged my card the full price again at check in plus a $300.00 deposit so all in total $2000.00 which if I wouldn't have caught it on my bank statement never would of gotten it back. I called they did refund me hardly an apology at all. And i had to wait almost 2.5 weeks to get my refund. On top of it all I stayed in the room less than 12 hours as my uncle had passed away and I had to rush out. When I told them in the morning the breakfast I had ordered the night before would need to be cancelled they hardly had a care at all. After all that still charged me 50+ dollars on a breakfast I didn't get to eat. No offers of a discounted or upgraded stay In the future. Just yeah our mistake it's been refunded. Used to love this place. Won't be staying again.
