Locals with kids screaming non stop in the pool. Shower had no shower head or hot water.

Walkable to restaurants, groceries, etc. Affordable and simple. Had a swimming pool.

Every entrance or exit, on foot or in our car, required us to ring a bell to be let in or out of a gate. I didn't like bothering someone, though the woman there always helped with a smile. It also felt like a safety hazard - no way out in an emergency. Walking to the beach required several detours but we were walking in the evenings and got 2 separate warnings about safety, so we opted to head back to the hotel. Showers were not quite luke warm - good after a run on a got day, but maybe not so much other times.
