Americas Best Value Inn Darien

My husband, daughter & I stayed in this motel about 7 years ago while getting out of the state (Florida) for an expected hurricane event. We checked in with our 2 small dogs & stayed 3 nights. We were not looking for a fancy hotel, just an inn in the storm (formerly a Super 8 Motel). Neil Modi, Manager, greeted us & provided us with a non-smoking room with pet accommodations. Since our experience was great that time, I kept his info in my phone contacts & upon realizing expected Hurricane Milton to make a direct hit in our area, I contacted Neil & made arrangements for the 3 of us to stay 2 nights (our pets have since passed but they still accept pets). He assured me that if we needed to stay longer, it would not be a problem. When we arrived, we were given a room on the 1st floor, were provided with all necessary items needed for our stay. They host a small continental breakfast, providing bagels, toast, English muffins, 2 types of cereal, 2 juices, coffee & tea. We NEVER ran out of electricity or ice during our stay! Remember, we were not looking to be entertained, etc., but to have a safe place to stay during a very difficult time. These people are VERY nice & accommodating & I would not hesitate to return to this property (now America's Best Value) any time in the future. Kudos to Neil & his associates!

The property needed a complete renovation. Clearly they painted over prior damage. Much of the roof is damaged & likely sour e of leaks. Bathroom is horrible

power was out at my house. mother on oxygen 24/7 they had power. they were extremely busy checking people in. they still had a pleasant attitude. comfortable beds and pillows. stayed 2 nights. quite.

it was a little tight for a wheelchair otherwise everything was fine

The rooms are definitely not cleaned or checked before you check in. My room temp was set to 81°, dead bug on the sink, 2 live cockroaches found in the bathroom throughout the night. Black stains on the towels and bedding. Feeling itchy in my hair and everywhere on my body, they might have those micro mites in their bedding. Shower was really run down with awkward water flow from the shower head and the drain was clogged. Won’t be coming back, I’ll pay the extra money to get something clean next time.
