Island House Hotel

The Island House is my favorite hotel on Mackinac Island. It is a beautiful property and conveniently located. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant offers an amazing menu along with live piano music to enjoy while you dine.

The only thing that was not convenient was the location of our room. It required using a staircase as the elevator does not go to the fourth floor.

Excellent location, waterfront and easy walk to downtown.

Tried to check out a day early because there is nothing to do on the island except shuffle around with tons of people down the trinket shop corridor. We hiked the trails and we’re stumped as to what to do. The meal we had at the Grand Hotel was not worth it. Dressed up but a hoard of poorly dressed seniors on a tour poured in and destroyed the ambience. The food was not great. Not going back to Mackinaw Island. Wish the Island House had let us check out early.

They charge $16/hour for a bike. We used to rent a car for a full day for that! Most of the hotels we stayed at on the mainland had complementary bikes. What a scam!

Breakfast, happy hour, and dinner outside were all excellent. Enjoyed a bit of rocking on porch.

Had to use stairs to get to room.
