Location in centre of Appleby. Lively busy pub but didn't find it too noisy. Room and single beds comfy. Shower great and easy to operate. Ate in pub in the evening and Food great and good hearty portions. Lots of dogs around which we loved. Information Book in room was helpful but also gloriously funny and quirky . My daughter and I laughed our way through some entries. We did a quiet walk up to the grounds of the castle at sunset and found it quite magical to walk round an early medieval castle keep when we had the whole of the grounds to ourselves.

Nothing. You have to be prepared for a busy local pub atmosphere but we liked that. If you want a spiritual retreat quiet experience you probably will find not your cup of herbal tea., although they do stock it!

Second time staying here, this time we were given the two bedroom house. Absolutely fantastic value for money and just a really nice place to stay with a great pub also. I'll definitely be back later in the year.

There's nothing to not like about the place.
