Driftwood Villa's - Scotts Head

Villa was a stone throw away from beach, secluded, very clean and tidy with good cooking facilities - stove top, microwave, kettle and toaster plus a fridge. We stayed in the ketuk suite.

Beautifully appointed, wonderful location, outdoor area stunning.

The apartment was located within beautifully landscaped gardens. The apartments each have their own decks with Barbecue and comfy furniture and sunshade. The bed was very comfortable. We loved waking up to the birds in the morning. Very quiet. An easy, short walk to a fab beach and local eateries. We were able to park on-site. Thank you for the complimentary treats. Would highly recommend.

Not enough storage space so we resorted to a floordrobe! There is plenty of space in the apartment for something more than a 3 draw unit that had only 1 clear drawer available (one drawer had an iron and table top ironing board and the 2nd had a bed cover in it). We were travelling for 3 months and had more than a weekend bag! Bathroom was quite small.

The location

It is expensive for what you get. Needs a good overhaul: the furniture is cheap and dated, they could have put a larger L-shaped sofa or 2 sofas instead of the tiny one they have in there, there’s a cheap very tiny table that I’m guessing is meant to be used as a coffee table but it’s ridiculously small. We were there for a wedding for 3 nights, 4 days and there was only a very tiny SHORT wardrobe, I could not hang my long dress anywhere. Also , I dropped something on the floor and noticed behind the bed was very dirty. The doona had a stain on it (they should just purchase a new one). We could not work out how to get Netflix working (no instructions- tried every button), the coffee machine did not work properly and the plunger leaked. Also there is very little privacy in the back area. It’s ok if you’re traveling with your friends or extended family but we were not. Luckily no one else was staying there the 3 nights we were there. It’s a shame as they could have done such a better job on the lay out of the interior as well so that you can view the TV from the bed as well as the sofa or simply put in another tv across from bed. TV’s are so cheap these days.

The landscaping of the property, the flowers, and the bird life was wonderful. To wake up and look into this beautiful garden and watch the birds was fantastic. The villa was very clean, and the amenities plenty sufficient to make a meal. We were here with family and had 3 of the villas. Just the right amount of proximity to each other, but plenty of privacy. Access to the beach was primo, and also to the bolo for food and drink. We were part of a large group in Scotts Head for a wedding. These accommodations had the best beach access ( although you can not see the ocean from the villas, you can from the property if you climb the little hill in the garden) and the best landscaping/plant life of anyone else's we visited

The lock box is placed high on the doorway, enough so that my 5'2" self had trouble seeing the numbers

The town and the beach were the best parts of our stay -- getting out of the musty/mouldy environment was necessary. The villas are described as beachfront, but they are actually behind sand dunes and under a cliff wall, which makes them dark and in this case dank.

Dislikes: - the owners' (Jason and Gina) appalling (& stingy) attitude and lack of compassion about our polite, genuine concerns about sub-standard facilities and mould which caused health issues. (It has taken quite a while to recover from staying there.) All take, no give on their part! - mouldiness, dankness - poor cleaning: - entry mat saturated causing musty/mouldy odor, apparent immediately on entry - musty and mouldy inside (couldn't sit in on couch due to musty smell) - outdoor chair cushions wet and green with mould. When we unwittingly sat on them, our backsides became saturated, then had to be dried out. - mould in bathroom-sink drain - dirty cheese grater in kitchen drawer The place obviously hadn't been opened up for some time before our arrival -- owner was too stingy to organise someone to do a pre-occupancy check - no ‘high speed internet’ or ‘free netflix’ as advertised. Internet service was sporadic and kept dropping out when we did get on. Owner full of excuses (bad weather etc) with no offers to fix it or compensate in any way. - no TV access. Owner's advice was to turn on and off at the plug. That didn't work. - poorly designed kitchen and bathroom — too confined to be useful for long stay - over-charging (for off-season compulsory, two-night stay, for exit cleaning and GST -- which was not included in the front-page price on Booking.com) and the lack of approriate cleaning and pre-checking - no offer of recompense (despite our suggestion that a reduction might be in order for the inconvenience, and the lack of TV and internet). Even a small amount would have been appreciated. We will never stay at Driftwood Villa’s (sic) at Scotts Head again and would like to warn others to avoid this accommodation, especially if you have CIRS or MCAS. Another warning! Booking.com support people have done little or nothing to help.
