The facility needs upgrading

It is nestled away from all the action. Each stay had men in cars smoking. Unnerved me first time. Then assumed they were smokers that did not want to smoke in rooms.

It seemed a bit noisier than last stay. Creaking and squeaking floors.

Very good clean room, close to shopping centers and Pearl Outlet. Good restaurant near hotel. Jackson State University close.

We were assigned Room 326 upon check in. When we arrived at the room, the smell of smoke was overpowering and the room was smoking hot. The heater was set on 85 degrees even though it was a warm evening. It was impossible to tell if the smell was cigarette smoke or the smell of the heater. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was just the smell of the heater, we went on in and begin getting showers as we had to leave out early the next morning. As the room began to cool off, it was obvious that the smell was the most overpowering cigarette smoke smell I have ever experienced. We all began getting headaches. After getting my shower, I went back down to the front desk and explained the situation and asked for a room change. The attendant asked me if we had slept in the beds. We had not slept in the beds, but I explained to him that we had used the shower and the bathroom. His reply was, "No problem, as long as you haven't slept in the beds, I can sell the room to someone else." He moved us to Room 315 which had no smoke smell. Two things were very concerning to me. First of all, the attempt to manipulate the situation by turning the heater up to 85. It is obvious that they wanted us to think the smell was just the heater and go ahead and get everything unpacked so that it would then be too much trouble to pack up and change rooms. The second thing that concerned me was his statement that as long as I hadn't slept in the beds, he could sell the room to someone else. Yes, I was being honest that we hadn't slept in the beds, but he didn't know that. Furthermore, the fact that we had used the showers didn't seem to matter. It made me wonder who had been in the next room we had been assigned just a few minutes earlier. If you choose to stay at this property, do so at your own risk. We will NOT be back.

We had a good stay at this hotel. The breakfast was great! The room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool.
