Hells Canyon Grand Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Breakfast was excellent.

The size of the spacious room and it had a refrigerator and microwave. The room was huge enough to accommodate a small table with 2 chairs but didn’t have that.

There was no place for my husband and I to sit to eat food that was heated in the microwave. It had 1 desk chair for an awkward round desk that protruded off the dresser and it had one cloth chair to sit in to watch TV that was so old, dirty and worn we wouldn’t even put clothes on it let alone sit in it.

It looks like they are trying to remodel the hotel

First thought when arriving the hotel looks like a Soviet era apartment block. The pool was merky with lots of debris the hot tub was as yellow as the bed sheets. There was musty smell. The picture on line made the place look much better than it actually was. Where things got screwed up with us is we were part of a group for a convention and should have never booked with booking.com. through booking.com our stay cost us $260 per night. Had we booked with the hotel directly it would have been $130 per night, due to us being part of the convention. $130 would have been a much fairer price for the quality of this hotel. The hotel told us they couldn't reimburse us the difference because we used a 3rd party. However other family members of ours who booked 3rd party did. We are new to traveling and are at the point of our lives that we will be doing more of it. However I think we will go through the hotel directly and not use a 3rd party travel site. And our expectations of quality will not be so high.

Loved the view and location, convenience to shopping, restaurants and our friends

We were given a handicapped room and a shower only that had a drain but nothing else than a shower curtain to keep water from getting all over the bathroom floor. Also, our special needs son needs a bathtub like a regular hotel room.
