Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa

I recently stayed at Estancia La Jolla and had such a relaxing, memorable experience that I felt compelled to share. I booked the hotel through the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts program with a $300 credit, and the value was honestly incredible. Each day included a $60 breakfast credit, plus a $100 property credit that could be used toward dinner, drinks, or the spa. It made the entire stay feel both indulgent and surprisingly cost-effective. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. It has a charming Spanish-style design, and the property is so expansive that you can almost get lost wandering through it—but in the best way. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, with lush landscaping and cozy details that make it feel peaceful and intimate despite its size. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and well-prepared, and I especially loved that each room comes with its own private patio. One thing that stood out to me was how pleasant everything smelled—fresh, clean, and calming. There are also many lovely spots around the property to sit and unwind, including a small “wishing tree” that adds a unique and whimsical touch. The highlight for me was definitely the pool area. While cabanas are available for an extra fee, there are plenty of complimentary lounge chairs, and the pool itself is spotless. It’s surrounded by a bar and a hot tub, making it the perfect place to spend hours relaxing in the sun. As an Amex Platinum member, I was able to check in early at 12 PM and check out late at 4 PM, which essentially gave me an extra full day to enjoy the pool and the property. That made a huge difference in the overall experience. Lastly, the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. Everyone I interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. What I appreciated most about this resort is the atmosphere—it feels effortlessly relaxed. There’s no pretentiousness, no pressure, just a calm and comfortable vibe that allows you to truly unwind. I would absolutely come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in La Jolla.

This place was 10/10. The drink menu is incredible - blacks beach is a MUST. The vibes were great and the staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. Shout out to Phil and Eddie for their great hospitality. Will be returning asap :)

Phil was an amazing bartender, very professional and knowledgeable. The drinks were super delicious and quickly made. The atmosphere really chill and relaxing.

Our bartender, Phil, was fabulous! Loved his recommendations. I asked for a refreshing drink and he recommended the house aperol spritz with kumquats. Delicious!

Spent my anniversary at Estancia and they made us feel so special so we will definitely be back. Had an amazing experience at the Spa - top notch service from Shayla and Natalie. Our experience at the pool was absolutely phenomenal, and a huge part of that was thanks to Eddie and Jack. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. They were both incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing, which made the entire experience feel effortless and relaxing. It’s rare to find service that strikes that perfect balance, but they truly nailed it. Eddie was especially great at checking in at just the right moments, making sure we always had what we needed while still giving us space to enjoy our time. Jack brought such a positive and upbeat energy that made the whole atmosphere even better. You could tell they genuinely cared about creating a great experience for everyone at the pool, and it showed in every interaction. We ordered the Poke nachos and one of the salads, and both were absolutely delicious. The Pokey nachos were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together—definitely something we would come back for again. The salad was just as impressive, with fresh ingredients and great flavor that made it feel both light and satisfying. Overall, the combination of amazing food and outstanding service made this such a memorable experience. Eddie and Jack truly went above and beyond, and they are a big reason we’ll be coming back. If you’re spending time at the pool, I highly recommend asking for them—you won’t be disappointed!

Estancia is lovely, one of my fave hotels in San Diego. Came for a spa day with my bestie and enjoyed all the amenities. Lunch at Greenfinch, great massage, pool and spa time with a lovely snack and wine at Palma. A perfect vacation day at home.
