Wingate by Wyndham Mansfield OH

Had stayed previously due to location. There is construction / restoration underway, but aside from that, we'd recommend this property

Staff was nice but didn't have much to work with! TV remotes don't even have a guide button--they are a total joke so bring a book. Breakfast tots would have been fun but they were basically raw--maybe 1 in 10 was slightly browned on one side--both days. Design choices in room are bad/non-functional: The desk is 30 5/8" high instead of the 29" norm. But the chair was really a lounge chair and only 15 3/4" high instead of the 18" norm. I was able to squish a sofa cushion in it to try to feel like a grown up person while I worked instead of a little kid who can't quite reach the keyboard. The parking lot light are so crazy bright that even with the "blackout" shade it looks like 8am all night long. Gnats. Don't get me going about my warning to my colleagues that if I randomly swat the screen during the call please forgive me...

Great staff. Convenient to a variety of dining, shopping. Well lit. And great breakfast.

The Customer Service at this hotel and probably one of the busiest weekends Inkcarnation, was above and beyond the two girls working all weekend were kind and very helpful when needed. I only gave the facilities four stars because their breakfast was mediocre and the toaster was broken. You had to hold it down to toast your bread other than that couldn’t have been happier.

Lobed the location of the hotel, next to a highway and a 24/7 Taco Bell. A bunch of other reataurants and businesses around as well. Room was clean spacious, and the bed, bedding, and pillows were excellent. It was quiet, zero complaints. Breakfast needed some tlc to get 5 stars. It offered a hot breakfast of eggs, sausage links and tater tots, which was appreciated. Because the pancake machine was broken/unusable, and toasters spring was broken. There was cereal and yogurt also. The juice they have is horrible/undrinkable, not sure what is the problem there. Coffee was ok. Property claimed to be repairing the stairs that go to the 2nd floor, so its all roped off and all guests must use the small elevator. But again, the comfort and convient location was more of a priority than all the breakfast issues.

Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Probably one of my better experiences in OH. Cost efficient. Manager was intuitive and made you feel welcomed. Part of the hotel was under construction and didnt get in the way of moving about, also no loud noises to wake you up or keep you up! Only issue was the comfort of the room, felt muggy and sticky even with the a/c on. Other than that I'd definitely stay again!!

The staff was amazing, even with the increased visitors from local concert! Extremly friendly and accommodating! Only time ive ever felt comfortable hanging out in a lobby. Breakfast was decent and had plenty of options, rooms were clean and comfortable!

Room was clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable and relaxing. Quiet environment Great for resting. Breakfast bar was good.

As we traveled home from a vacation in Massachusetts, we decided to stop at the Wingate in Mansfield, OH. I'm not sure how to classify our stay. In some respects, it was a good stay. In others, it was not a good stay. When we drove up, I had a sinking feeling when I saw that the sign on the building seemed to be hung over a sign for a different hotel brand. We've had too many experiences with booking hotels based on trusted hotel brands but discovering that the hotels had been sold to independents who provide sub-par accommodations and guest services. That bad feeling wasn't helped as we walked into the hotel lobby that was clearly under construction. The staircase was sealed off by caution tape, and the breakfast area room to the side featured 1970s decor that clearly wasn't under renovation. But, something happened next that was reassuring. The woman behind the check-in counter was warm and welcoming. She explained that Wingate had purchased this hotel from Country Inn & Suites and that the hotel was under renovation. She was very reassuring that the rooms (at least many of them) had been renovation and that we'd be happy with our stay. Our entire price for one night that included all taxes and fees was less than $130, so Wingate was discounting for the less-than-stellar condition of the overall hotel. As far as the rooms, I'm not so sure renovations are complete. Actually, I hope they are not. The flooring is not carpet; it's linoleum. The bed was an IKEA type of metal bed frame. The furniture really looked cheap. The mattress was okay but not nearly as comfortable as we expected from a Wingate. The pillows were not okay. If bedding was new, I would not have expected the lumpy pillows provided. Most importantly, the bedding was merely a flat sheet, a top sheet, and then a "bedspread" that had the feel of another sheet -- super thin. There was no blanket. Also, AC was an issue. We entered the room that had no AC on. It was warm and muggy. We turned on the AC full blast and went to dinner. When we returned about an hour later, the room was cooler but definitely not cool. Basically, the room was fairly warm all night long. We were hoping breakfast would be better. Basically, everything was basic. The warm foods didn't look very appetizing. When I opted for cereal, the twist mechanism to turn to get cereal out of the dispenser didn't work. I ended up taking the dispenser off the stand, removing the lid, and pouring cereal form there. Toast seemed like a safe bet until I saw the sign on the toaster that indicated users had to hold down the lever to toast the bread. And, the orange juice tasted like soap. We ended up leaving and going through a drive-thru for breakfast. On the good side, Wingate did adjust the price of the room even without us asking for that. The location was great long I90, and a Taco Bell and Panera were within walking distance. Overall, I think the Wingate should not be open yet. I'm sure the stairs being shut down can't be okay with fire code, the lobby is so alarming, and the breakfast area sends the wrong message to guests. Will they return? Your bright spot was the woman who was working on the desk on 7/10 in the evening. If she hadn't been so warm and welcoming, we would have returned to our car and continued down the road when we saw the sign, the lobby, and the breakfast area.

This is a nice hotel. It has had a great deal of work done on it over the last couple of years. There are mild blemishes that remain here or there, but overall, the hotel provide a nice comfortable stay.
