B&B Hotel Trieste

I was feeling a bit cautious after some of the poor reviews I read of this hotel (mould?? Unfriendly breakfast staff?? - not my experience at all!). Out of the five B&B Hotels I have stayed in so far (Roma, Napoli, Ljubljana, Maribor, Trieste), this one has been the best for me. And I loved the location - 5 minutes walk from train & bus, the waterfront walkway, best gelato (Zampolli) and Bao 2 was also delicious. I reserved a double room and requested quiet. Room 304 (5th floor) is quite large and faces the inner courtyard, with two windows that open wide. Very quiet and good airflow if one doesn't want to use the AC. The room has good lighting, comfortable bed, and full desk with chair. The bathroom has a large sink and regular-sized, glass-enclosed shower with a spray that one doesn't have to just hold in one's hand. It even has a bidet! The breakfast was delicious with lots of healthy options (muesli, soy milk, Greek yoghurt, whole grain mini croissants - and even an electric juicer for fresh orange juice!) Unlike in some of the reviews, I couldn't have found the breakfast room attendants more helpful and friendly, as well as Giada and Benedetta at the front desk. One observation is that the 3 Italian B&B Hotels I have stayed in have way better breakfasts than Maribor or Ljubljana (not worth the extra $).

Location excellent for transport links, both train and bus.

Breakfast was disappointing. Room was economy because we arrived very late and left in morning. We were offered an upgrade before we arrived but decided against spending more money for such a short time. If we had planned to stay longer we would have upgraded.

Staff was great and very helpful. Location was great and “hotel” was clean and lovely. However, we walked in and felt like the must be on. No, just no air—-none. It was May 8th and the A/C doesn’t go on until the hot months! (It was only 75 degrees) The beds were hard as rocks (4” mattress) with pillows of I’m not sure what—-rubber? There was one towel on the bed (of a double room, mind you!). We found the other in a bag on the high shelf with a request to use it only if necessary😦. The shower door was extremely flimsy and felt like it was going to come off when you opened it. You had to wrestle your bags up three steps in order to get to the very small elevator. We ended up carrying our bags down three flights when we left because the elevator did not come for us. It turns out the staff was bringing up carts full of linens and had the elevator tied up for 15 minutes.

Nahe am Bahnhof, zu Fuß keine 5 Minuten. Nicht weit in das Stadtzentrum.
