Wij verbleven één nacht in dit hotel. De medewerkers bij de receptie waren bijzonder vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Nadat we melding maakten van de warmte op de kamer, kregen we zelfs een upgrade naar een suite aangeboden. Vanaf de vijfde verdieping heb je uitzicht over de levendige stad. De douche was fantastisch, bijna groter dan de slaapkamer. De wifi werkte goed en de Nespresso-koffie bij het ontbijt was heerlijk. Tegenover het hotel kunt je in een kleine parkeergarage de auto parkeren. Dat is handig.

Tijdens ons verblijf was het ongeveer 35 graden buiten en helaas kon de airconditioning of luchtbehandeling de temperatuur niet aan. Zowel in de standaardkamer als in de suite bleef het ruim boven de 30 graden, waardoor slapen lastig werd. We zijn hiervoor twee keer naar de receptie gegaan en hoewel men erg zijn best deed, was er geen echte oplossing. Uiteindelijk hebben we de ramen geopend om wat verkoeling te krijgen. Volgens Booking stond er een kingsize bed vermeld, maar in de standaardkamer was het bed naar onze inschatting ongeveer 150 cm breed en geen echte kingsize van 180 cm. In de suite was dit wel in orde. In de standaardkamer was bovendien slechts aan één kant van het bed een stopcontact aanwezig. Verder zijn de gangen behoorlijk gehorig en hoor je gasten die laat in de nacht terugkomen duidelijk praten. Het ontbijt was niet helemaal onze stijl, hoewel de koffie uitstekend was. Ook viel het op dat de netwerkaansluiting op de kamer geen actieve verbinding had. Ponferrada voelde voor ons, na veel tijd in de natuur te hebben doorgebracht, behoorlijk druk aan. Al met al een prima hotel met zeer vriendelijke medewerkers, maar de gebrekkige klimaatbeheersing tijdens warme dagen is iets waar toekomstige gasten rekening mee moeten houden.
