"Beware!"

4.0

Prior to new ownership, Pines & Palms was our "happy" place. So disappointed during our last visit. To start, I did add 2 nights but did not get that on a new confirmation...always get it in black & white! I was charged almost $500 more than I was verbally quoted. The TV is in a horrible location in cottage 10. You can only watch if you're lying in bed, which we don't do. There are no "regular" network stations like ABC, CBS or NBC. My husband still likes to watch sports when we're on vacation. The WI-Fi is terrible. Our sheets had bad stains as well as the dining chairs. When I asked about the chairs being cleaned, Biba said she will check into it some other time...need to be sent out to be cleaned...she didn't say "I am sorry" about that. Some towels and most of wash cloths should be replaced. Pillows were flat as a pancake. There were bugs on the kitchen counter, until I went to Publix for bug spray myself. The bar liquor selection is sad & if you want to sit at the pool, you can't bring your own. It rained some evenings and the parking lot turned into almost a muddy mess. Put down more gravel! It's a great location and the remodel is pretty. I am sad to say, I will never return.

"A peaceful place"

Nice room, clean and neat. It badly needs shelves and/ or drawers. Friendly staff. Will return again and again and again … is that 100 characters?

Wish we would have had more time here. This is a small resort with lovely rooms and amenities. Quiet and peaceful. Personalized check-in and great location for Islamorada. Highly recommend.

"Absolutely beautiful resort"

10.0

Arrived to a gorgeous lobby and a glass of prosecco, our room was ocean front with kitchen, living area and King bed. Swimming pool with bar and afternoon music straight across from us, Suite 7. The onsite coffee trailer and food trailer were great. Everything kept up perfectly, location great. Best sunrise ever.

"Our go-to getaway in the Keys"

10.0

We were so happy to return to Pines & Palms for another relaxing, lovely stay. We splurged for the oceanfront cottage (#9 or 10) and were delighted to watch the sunrise every morning from our front porch, as well as hang there throughout the day decompressing, watching the calm ocean waves roll in and our neighbors stroll by. This small, peaceful resort is beautifully maintained and it was nice and quiet while we were there (loved their resort-wide “quiet policy” after 9pm!). Kudos to the man who rakes the sand every morning with such pride - he does a meticulous job. The staff is friendly and helpful with any requests. The rooms had been redecorated (by HGTV designer/contractor couple: the Baumler’s) since our last visit. They look very pretty, boasting a modern, clean, blue/neutral beachy decor. The bathroom is more spacious now with a nice, roomy shower and the king bed comfy with higher end linens though the space around the bed is tight. The kitchen is modern and looks great, though I wonder if dedicating that much space to something most visitors don’t use often was a wise choice. Two aspects of the remodel didn’t work well for us. First, the lack of storage space - a cabinet or set of drawers would make a world of difference. The nightstands are pedestal and don’t have drawers. The compact bathroom sink has a partial drawer but it accommodates the pipe going into the sink and is therefore tiny. One suggestion would be to add a retractable clothesline in the shower as there is only one towel bar in the bathroom. There are a couple of hooks but a towel can’t dry on a hook in a humid environment. We quickly ran out of places to hang wet towels, damp pool towels and bathing suits. The other post-remodel issue was not having a tv in the living area. We like to watch tv after dinner but the only option was to watch from bed. We didn’t want to climb into bed at 7:30pm but there we were. There’s no room for chairs in the bedroom and it’s impossible to see the nice large bedroom tv from the living area. These issues weren’t deal breakers but were things we had to work around each day. They could still be addressed (put a tv at the far end of the long living area and add storage plus shower clothesline). But let’s not lose the headline: we love Pines & Palms and look forward to returning for lovely, low key vacations in future. It’s a beautiful, relaxing resort in our favorite key, Islamorada. It seems primarily frequented by older couples and a few families with young children. Other pluses: It was wonderful to try paddle boarding for the first time (loved it) and kayak off the tranquil beach. The two on-site food trucks - delicious coffee and burger/asian options - plus the very walkable Midway Cafe - provided easy to access breakfast, lunch and snack options. And the ocean front pool temp is perfect! Go, you’ll have a wonderful time!

"Beautiful and private!"

8.0

Stunning property! Very thoughtfully designed and incredibly comfortable interiors with views of the private beach. Beautiful pool area and excellent facilities! AC was top notch which was helpful, because we were there in the hottest part of the year.

The pool bar, food truck and coffee truck were closed for the month of September, which we were only informed of 3 days before arrival. I had specifically booked a place with those amenities, but oh well. We asked the front desk about options nearby and she told us to “look it up.” Ended up finding some decent options on our own but nothing walkable, except the Midway Cafe which was excellent. The ocean is also not swimmable, but the pool makes up for it!
