"Superb Hotel"

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in the Porto Mare hotel on half board in a superior sea view room. The gardens are beautiful and the food was excellent with plenty of choice for everyone. The restaurant staff were friendly and very attentive. The room was always very efficiently cleaned early in the day. We will definitely make this our hotel of choice when visiting Madeira and plan to return later this year.

"Absolut empfehlenswert, gerne wieder."

Das Hotel liegt in der Region Lido in Funchal - ausserhalb des Stadtzentrums, dieses ist aber mit Auto (oder Bus) gut zu erreichen. Es ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um die Insel zu entdecken. Das Personal war immer sehr freundlich, das Zimmer sehr sauber und grosszügig. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat alles was man braucht. Das Hotel hat eine grosszügige Garten- und Poolanlage. Wir können uns gut vorstellen, das Hotel wieder zu buchen.

Es hat sehr wenige hoteleigene Aussenparkplätze, in einem engen Parkbereich. Wir haben dann jeweils in der blauen Zone direkt vor dem Hotel parkiert, diese sind über Nacht kostenlos, tagsüber max. 3.60. Es gäbe eine Hotelgarage für 10.- die Nacht.

"The best hotel in Funchal"

Our favourite hotel in Funchal. We have stayed here several times and doesn’t disappoint. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the restaurants/ food are first class. It is within walkable distance to Funchal town centre and buses and taxis are also plentiful & reasonable. This year we visited when the flower festival was being prepared and the hotel reception area was beautifully decorated with an enormous tower of flowers.

Location, wonderful, lush gardens and heated indoor pool that extends outside. The food is also really good quality, not the most exciting of meals, but you can tell the quality is there.

The complete lack of any included drinks, even water at dinner really should be addressed. The hotel is very clear that no drinks whatsoever are included, but after several days this just becomes a bit of a drain, and takes away from the overall enjoyment.
