Cairn Hotel

Location good for getting into town, apart from the hill. Nice room, plenty space and garden view.

Bar service sketchy. Waited about 20 minutes one night while bar man tried to make 2 cocktails from a laminated sheet.

Good venue, nice old building, good breakfast, very good value for money compared to other local accommodation.

The only thing is that you can hear TV in room next door. Otherwise everything good.

Room was very clean and comfortable, so comfortable we asked if possible to have same room when we went back 2 days later, we did get it. Food was also very good, had pre theatre and was excellent value for money. Would go back if in the area.

We left before breakfast. The room was OK, but the floor squeaked loudly and a lot outside in the corridor every time someone walked past.

Not impressed at all with the "dog friendly" approach, I would say it was more dog tolerant than dog friendly, with dogs limited to a few seats in the foyer and a list of rules as long as your arm, with constant threats of payment for this and that if the dog broke the rules. We are experienced travellers with dogs and in fact our dog has stayed in more hotels than the average human, all without incident.

I had stayed before and just needed an overnight. I was disappointed the shower didn't work, and that the receptionist in the morning whilst saying she would get it looked at came across rather dismissive, even disbelieving.

The paintwork is chipped throughout the hotel, the fruit selection clearly caters for an audience of a certain age, although the hot breakfast was perfectly good.

Good Location. Good breakfast. Nice quiet room. Free Parking.
