Metterra Hotel on Whyte

Breakfast was A+. Encompassing both variety and quality. Served in nice surroundings with friendly staff nearby. Parking was by valet. A tad inconvenient and not free. Otherwise, prompt and issue-free.

The decor art was clearly a notch above most. However, the furnishings, especially the sofa, were clearly showing their age. This was a suite, and it took away a bit of the charm. However, not enough to warrant a downgrade of my appraisal.

Very good place to stay, clean and very comfortable beds. Washroom is very big and super clean. Good size room. Breakfast is amazing with a lot of option. Very good location in downtown with a lot of food option nearby.

Parking is not easy. The price per night is high, and it seems impossible to find cheaper parking elsewhere. The hotel only offers two options: paid parking or valet parking (even more expensive). The nearby nightclubs can be too noisy for a well-deserved rest, but they might be suitable if you're there to party. However, they may not be the best choice if you're looking for a relaxing stay.

Room was spacious and staff were welcoming. Breakfast was lovely.

Located on noisy, party street, room too warm and couldn't adjust temperature, bed was too soft. Booked 3 nights but only stayed 1.

We were in Edmonton (first time visitors) for the weekend for a climbing competition, and Mettera was conveniently close to the event. The hotel itself looks nice when you walk into the lobby, and room was clean and carpeting looked quite new. The furniture was a little dinged up and shabby and the bathroom was clean but needed updating. The room did feel quite warm, even though we turned off the thermostat as recommended. On the one hand, it was a great location in that there's a lot of stuff on Whyte so plenty of places to eat, and close to the Old Strathcona Market which was nice for a visit, but as many other reviews have said it is very loud and we were there on a weekend. I did ask for a room facing away from the street and the hotel did accommodate that request, but it's unavoidable that it's noisy though the earplugs helped. The staff were nice and the breakfast was fine, but if you need somewhere quiet at night this is not the place for you.

The rooms were very nice and clean, parking is a bit of an issue there so definitely recommend the valley service. Stay was almost perfect, but the rooms are very, very hot at night. Says AC for the rooms but it seems like just a fan that only goes down to 16°.

It unfortunately snowed all day during our stay but the location was perfect for happy hour and close by restaurants to choose from. The hotel staff were wonderful. Rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. We highly recommend this hotel and will return again when the weather is more pleasing and we can enjoy exploring the shops and area more.
