Quiet location but close enough to the mall: museums/ etc. Short walk to the Metro. Starbucks across the street. Excellent hotel and staff. Food was wonderful. I cannot recommend more highly.

I had a truly wonderful stay at the Salamander and can’t recommend it highly enough. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with thoughtful design details throughout—especially the spa bathrooms, which felt luxurious, relaxing, and impeccably maintained. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Every interaction was warm and professional, and Zachary at the front desk was particularly friendly and helpful. He made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived and went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless. The fitness center and pool area were also fantastic—clean, spacious, and a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring the city. Overall, this was a 10 out of 10 experience. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend the Salamander to anyone visiting Washington, DC.

We recently enjoyed a one-night stay (April 24–25) at the Salamander DC, and it was the perfect anchor for our quick city retreat. From the moment we arrived, the staff proved incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. Accommodations & Amenities The guest rooms are beautiful and cozy, but the real highlight was the bathroom. While we didn't get into the spa this time—definitely book that well in advance!—the luxurious soaking tub and walk-in shower provided a private spa-like experience that was exactly what we needed after a long day of sightseeing. Our room offered gorgeous views of both the Tidal Basin and the Wharf, which were particularly stunning at sunrise and sunset. Dining Highlights Breakfast: The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering high-quality options that fueled us for a heavy day of walking. Lunch at the Hotel: After an 18,000-step morning, we returned for lunch and highly recommend the Wagyu burgers and truffle fries. They were the perfect indulgence to recharge our energy. Dinner Nearby: The hotel’s proximity to The Wharf is a major perk. We walked down for a fantastic dinner at ilili, which we highly recommend for anyone staying in the area. Location & Accessibility The location is unbeatable for those who want to see the sights without the stress of city driving. We were able to: - Catch a breathtaking sunset at the Jefferson Memorial. - Enjoy a morning run around the Tidal Basin. - Walk all the way to the Library of Congress, the Capitol, and the Supreme Court. Not having to worry about parking or logistics during our walk across the National Mall made the trip incredibly relaxing. Final Thoughts A special thank you to the concierge for being especially helpful with our local inquiries. The 4:00 PM late checkout was a total game-changer, allowing us to get a full second day of touring in before we had to pack up. We will definitely be back—and next time, we’re booking that spa treatment early!

The Salamander is lovely, and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. I love this hotel, highly recommend. I also like that there is a walking overpass from the back of the hotel to the wharf restaurants and waterfront, very convenient. I will definitely be visiting again in the future.

It was a great experience. I attended a conference, and everything was very well organized, clean, and the food was good. As a guest, my only complaint was the poor heating in the room and in the conference rooms. I was very cold. The staff was very friendly, and the location was good.

nothing went well

Due to mismanagement of housekeeping staff the hotel did not have my room ready until 8pm, I had to wait in the overcrowded lobby with thousands of other guests for over 5 hours who were also stuck wating. Everyone was frustrated and miserable. During my 5 hour wait, when I went to the lobby restaurant to try and eat I was told I could not be seated because I was a single guest and tables were only for groups of two or more. in the morning I waited in line for 30 minutes to enter the restaurant to eat the overpriced breakfast buffet which reminded me of the Hampton inn- food was awful so was service-again.
