Holiday Inn Express Northampton - South by IHG

Quiet ground floor room.

Wasn’t over impressed with the evening meal, vegetables cold. No I didn’t say anything just didn’t think it was worth the trouble to raise my concerns.

Could fault nothing.

Standard Holiday Inn Express offer - breakfast had usual good range, but hot food (and coffee) maybe not as nice as we've had at other HI Express hotels. Staff welcoming and very helpful - not least as we'd complicated things by booking for two nights, but separately to do one night on all loyalty points and one for all money. Loved the big triptych mirror in the bathroom, except it showed my age. Got a mechanical hum from outside first night but it didn't keep us awake; in the morning we were offered a different room but declined and it didn't happen the next night. The location is very convenient, close to the M1 but only twelve minutes from town - use SatNav and take the Saxon Avenue route to town to avoid having to go all the way round the Mway junction trying to get in the right lane - or use the regular bus service nearby if you don't want to pay for parking in the town.
