Dun Gorg Guest House

Our stay was an overnight one to be at Malta Airport early after a weeks holiday on Gozo. On arrival the hotel door was locked and instructions to press a pushbutton to gain access. We were instructed that the door would open and we would find an envelope on the reception desk containing our room key. The room was immaculate and there was a complimentary bottle of wine and water, which we were very pleased with. Breakfast is taken on the fourth floor where you serve yourself to some items and there was a young lady (the first hotel person we saw) who served certain items. There was someone on reception when we left. I would recommend this hotel as a stopover when flying in/out from Malta as it is close to the airport.

Fabulous new hotel, very clean and comfortable, the staff all lovely and freindly. Air Von fabulous and hotel very close to harbour, bars and restaurants, but not noisy.

The place is well located. We arrived before the check in time and we could go to our room. The only problem was to use the elevator. Often when we want to use the elevator, the cleaning things was inside.

The hotel is very clean, the staff very friendly, but the food for breakfast is pretty basic and literally the same every morning. Bread, cheese, ham, yogurt. Maybe a banana. Nothing cooked or different is possible.

Marsaxlokk is very pleasant fishing village with more restaurants than you are likely to visit in one trip. The Dun Gorg is situated just off the harbour and yet surrounding buildings mean there is no harbour view from all but a small area of the breakfast terrace on the top floor. This was a small disappointment at first, but otherwise the room was spacious and clean, with very comfy pillows; and to be honest a view probably wouldn’t have made us use the balcony much more due to the all-day heat and a lesser extent noise from the road. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, if a little limited and uninspiring when taken over several days - the sane bread and processed cheese/ham, cereal, packaged rather than fresh pastry, yoghurt, fruit... we certainly weren’t hungry though. Good quality shower (although bathroom window opened into an inner-building shaft) and an effective fridge to keep water and other items cool. Appreciated the bottle of wine on arrival although there wad no corkscrew in the room so enjoyed it several days later! We actually (planned) a move to a different hotel in the north for the second half of our trip and in all I am pleased to have spent the two different experiences of Malta as such, however the islands are small enough you could potentially use the Dun Gorg as a permanent base. Having a car was advantageous, sandy beaches are limited nearby.

Nice family run Bussiness

Loved having my private balcony, although the weather did not allow me to use it as much as I would have liked. Hotel was very close to the harbor and all the village activities.
