"Pleasant stay"

8.0

I was in this hotel for one night and I really enjoy my staying when I found it. There are really no way to find it at once, since it's not on the street, there are no big signs, no address in GPS, so be patient and calm it will worth it. Hotel is interesting, yard is fantastic, staff very cosy, good english speaking (rarity in France). Parking and yard is fantastic, no restaurants nearby, but there is Ibis next door with descent food.

what a pit this was don't expect the room in the picture even tho we payed extra for an upgrade thinking we would get a room with lounge area as per the picture our room was tatty old stained and had bed bugs when we approached the manager she said it was mosquitos but as we had taken precautions against mossys and only our legs were bitten whilst being cover by sheets it is defo bed bugs but there not interested once they have you money they don't care do not stay here ever how the heck they got a 3.8 is beyond me it should be removed burnt down and rebuilt the build ing looks the dogs when you see it but that just hides what beneath old and tatty and the fridge had been cleaned with disinfectant which made every thing stink that was put in it avoid it sleep on the street would have been better never ever again and if the management read this then you should take complaints and deal with them not just argue with your customers deal with your issues and sort your horrible hotel out

"very bad location, I do not recommend this hotel"

2.0

This hotel use the renown name of Roi René, but in fact is located outside of AIX, on the freeway far away from the center .The service is extremely bad almost impolite , the beds, carpets are not even qualify for a one star hotel. The room smell horrific.Do not reserve this hotel

"Need a car"

8.0

We thought it had a nice atmosphere, but could definitely have used air conditioning being as it was in the south of France. Up one flight of stairs with no elevator and reception closes at 7pm .window didn't close properly so had to take valuables each time we left hotel.

"History Hotel = Interesting Stay"

8.0

My family stayed here for three nights in early July 2014. The hotel (which doesn't look like a typical hotel) is a short drive to Aix en Provence city center. We liked having the peace and quiet to return to in the evening after our day of touring this fantastic area. The staff at the hotel were very informative, friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a small apartment that had a semi-private garden area with patio furniture. The architecture and history of the hotel is very interesting and appears to include royalty, monks and service as a hospital during the dark days of the plague. If you stay here, ask for the fact sheet detailing it. The grounds are lovely and accented by fountains. We liked that the property (and our car) was secured behind a locked gate. Skip the limited and pricy for family of 4 hotel breakfast and just hit the grocery store instead.

"Good overnight base"

8.0

This hotel provides comfortable accommodation, although be prepared for small rooms. As we were only there for an overnight stay that was not a problem. It was good to have free parking and easy access to the town centre.

"Great place to stay with history and with class."

10.0

We found this hotel on the internet last minute and were so glad that we did. The place is classy and well run and oozes history. If not for the funky smell in the room, we would also have given that a 5 rating. The booking said check-in time was until 6pm, but that late check-in was guaranteed. This seemed a bit confusing. We didn't arrive until 7pm, but the staffer stayed until we arrived to check us in anyway. He also tried to call my cell number which doesn't work in Europe. The staff members in the evening and in the morning were pleasant and helpful and, like most hotels in Europe, spoke a number of languages other than French. You'll like them! Parking was handy with a big lot that had some shade trees and a serious security gate. Lastly, the breakfast was terrific. Good coffee, bread, fruit, etc.

"Nice place to stay, but difficult to find"

8.0

We had a difficult time finding the hotel with the GPS. However the grounds are beautiful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. You can take bus number eight into the center of the city and back which is very convenient. It is a great place to relax and have peace and quiet.
