Nothing, it smelt in the room and felt very unsafe. We paid the cancellation fee and wanted to leave and they yelled at us and put us in an uncomfortable position with other guests. ( long term guest)

The way you could tell immediately the pictures gave a false sense of property. The office felt rude, uncomfortable and nonchalant to any care at all other than getting my information. Human trafficking signs as the only decor in the office. My daughter and me did not feel safe there and for hours after leaving.

No plug for bathtub. Water not hot enough for a hot bath.

Upon arrival at the property, we entered a room that had allegedly been “thoroughly cleaned.” When I unfolded an extra blanket provided in the room, used drug paraphernalia fell onto the floor at my feet, including a needle, syringe, and an empty, unknown substance vial. The only reason this matter is not significantly more serious is that the needle was capped and did not puncture my skin. Had I been injured, legal action would already be underway. Law enforcement was contacted immediately. Police responded to the property and removed the used materials from the room. The room was clearly not cleaned or inspected to any acceptable health or safety standard before our arrival. Even more concerning was the response from the hotel owner and cleaning staff, who were hostile, dismissive, and unprofessional. Rather than apologizing or taking responsibility, we were blamed for “complaining” despite being exposed to hazardous and unsanitary conditions. There was no attempt to provide a new room, a refund, or even a discount for the horrible conditions by the owner and property manager. The lack of professionalism and basic customer service skills was shocking and extremely disappointing. As a direct result of this incident, we did not stay at the property. We were forced to leave Monterey entirely, unable to secure alternative accommodations on short notice. This completely ruined our vacation weekend, resulting in a financial loss and significant distress. This constitutes a serious health and safety failure on the part of the property, and I would not recommend staying at this property to anyone - the treatment received was absolutely horrible, with unprofessional and rude staff. I submitted a refund request to either the property or Booking.com, and three weeks later, I have yet to receive confirmation of the return of funds.
